How Hayden Panettiere Survives the Fame Game
Originally posted 07/10/2009 06:30AM
Just because she's spent her entire life in the spotlight doesn't mean that Hayden Panettiere's life has always been so bright.
"I was tortured, emotionally tortured by these girls," the star of Heroes and I Love You, Beth Cooper, 19, tells Details in its August issue about her contemporaries at school when she would return from professional gigs. "Every time I came back from filming, it would be me trying to find my way back into the clique. And they weren't having it."
Panettiere started her acting career in New York before she was even 1 year old. But with the early success came some amount of torment. When she'd head back to school in New York's Rockland County, classmates often shunned her – and one even hit her, she says.

Hayden Panettiere Drops Towel In New Film
Originally posted 06/30/2009 04:50PM
Hayden Panettiere isn't afraid to bare it all – at least not on set.
"If I can't flaunt it at 20, come on!" Panettiere said while promoting her new film I Love You, Beth Cooper, in theaters July 10. "I mean I might as well show it now."
In the movie, Panettiere plays unattainable Beth Cooper, a high school cheerleader and the object of dorky Denis Cooverman's (played by Paul Rust) affection, and in one locker room scene, the actress drops her towel.
"It didn't bother me much," Panettiere said of shooting the "reveal." "I think when the person who's doing it gets all uncomfortable and shy, then it's other people around who get more uncomfortable because they're uncomfortable. I mean I was fine – everyone was really professional."

Originally posted 05/18/2009 07:00PM
Summer is almost here, which means it's bikini season! Already, the stars have been out showing off their enviable beach-ready bods. And, it seems, green is a favorite color among the Hollywood's hottest women. Hayden Panettiere took time away from the Cannes Film Festival for a dip in a green suit on Monday. Valerie Bertinelli donned a bikini for the first time in 30 years on the cover of PEOPLE, showing off her 132 lb. frame. Kelly Ripa, mom to three kids, flaunted her toned physique in a green two-piece in Miami last month. And, ever the trendsetter, Audrina Patridge looked great in green while filming Into the Blue in Hawaii last year.

The couple, who spent part of 2007 trying to hide their relationship, is still on amicable terms, another source says.
Reps for both actors would not comment.

Hayden Panettiere's Father Pleads No Contest to Beating Wife
Originally posted 01/22/2009 05:45PM
Hayden Panettiere's father pleaded no contest Thursday to misdemeanor battery for allegedly hitting his wife, and was sentenced to two years probation.
Alan Lee Panettiere, 49, also was ordered by the Beverly Hills Superior Court judge to complete 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling and pay $400 in fines.
He was arrested in August at the family's West Hollywood home for investigation of striking the actress's mother, Lesley Vogel, in the face during an argument following a benefit event hosted by Hayden.
Shortly after he was released on bail, Alan Panettiere told Extra the incident was a "misunderstanding" and that "nothing actually happened." And Hayden, 19, said, "It was blown way out of proportion by a sheriff who wanted his 15 minutes of fame."

Globes Glitter Again After a Year Off
Originally posted 01/10/2009 01:50PM
With a newly revamped trophy (streamlined), nominated couples (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie) and an eye-pleasing roster of presenters (Zac Efron, Jennifer Lopez, Jake Gyllenhaal and Hayden Panettiere), this year's 66th Golden Globe Awards ceremony promises to shine – and perhaps even lift spirits left sagging by the economy.
One thing is already certain: Sunday's Hollywood Foreign Press Association festivities, once again being held in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel and broadcast on NBC at 8 p.m., will be a marked improvement over last year's ratings-deprived shadow ceremony, at which winners were MIA due to the then-ongoing Writers Guild strike.
This year, the stars will turn out. "My mom is my date to the Golden Globes," Rachel Gets Married nominee Anne Hathaway told PEOPLE this week.
The only no-show will be John Travolta, who canceled his appearance as he copes with the death of his son Jett. Travolta's animated film Bolt got a best song nomination for his duet with Miley Cyrus on "I Thought I Lost You."

Hayden Panettiere Asks for (Online) Help Saving the Whales
Originally posted 10/27/2008 07:00PM
Hayden Panettiere had already made a commitment to saving the whales, and now the Heroes star – and animal activist – is asking for your help. In a new video, Panettiere urges viewers to sign up on SocialVibe.com and select Whaleman Foundation as a charity of choice. The actress also hopes to get one million signatures for her petition to stop commercial whaling and to enforce the global whaling moratorium.
Panettiere is not just speaking out – she's also acting out. On Oct. 26, she held an event on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. for the Save the Whales Again campaign. "Protecting and preserving whales and dolphins is something that we're all very passionate about," she told a small crowd of people at the rally.
The gathering ended with everyone lying down on the grass to form the outline of a giant human whale and the word, "VOTE" for an aerial photo.
Last October, an arrest warrant was issued after Panettiere protested on a surfboard in Taiji, Japan. The actress was attempting to protect pilot whales caught by fishermen. – Susan Mandel and Brian Orloff

Hayden Panettiere's father, Alan, was temporarily ordered not to "harass, strike or threaten" his wife, a Beverly Hills judge ruled Tuesday.
Panettiere, who was accompanied in court by his wife, Lesley Vogel, did not comment to press. Daughter Hayden did not attend.
Judge H. Chester Horn issued the protective order until Panettiere's new arraignment date of Dec. 11. If convicted, Panettiere faces up to a year in county jail.
Panettiere, 49, was arrested at the family's West Hollywood home after he struck Vogel, 52, "one or two times on the cheek causing bruising with a closed fist," a sheriff's spokesman said.

Jessica Alba 'Muzzles' Hayden Panettiere in New Vote Ad
Originally posted 10/03/2008 08:20AM
The muzzling continues!
Jessica Alba – who has already been "silenced" in two shocking ads for Declare Yourself – is back, starring in a new video that encourages young people to vote. And this time she's joined by Hayden Panettiere.
In the satirical video clip, Alba hosts a mock home-shopping show selling "The Muzzler 2008." (It's the same Hannibal Lecter-type mask the actress modeled in her most recent ad.)
The Heroes star comedically chimes in, praising the device's ability to mute voters' voices. (The clip also features Tristan Wilds from 90210.)
