Helen Hunt Directs Commercial Airing During Oscars

Academy Award-winning actress Helen Hunt returns to the Oscars on Sunday – but not this time as a nominee.
Hunt directed a commercial for Frito-Lay's TrueNorth brand, which held
a contest eliciting stories from people around the world who have discovered their own "true north" or passion in life.
The actress was drawn to the gig after completing her own passion project, last year's film Then She Found Me, in which she starred, wrote and directed.
"This came very out of the blue. I wasn't in the world of commercial directing, but it was really fun," Hunt, 45, a best actress winner for As Good as It Gets, tells PEOPLE. "Thousands of people sent in their stories of following their life's passion, and I was part of the group that chose this really fiery, passionate woman. I really felt inspired by her."
The 60-second ad features Lisa Nigro, an ex-Chicago police officer who founded Inspiration Café, which feeds and supports the needy.

REGISTERED: Tori Spelling, 30, and actor Charlie Shanian, due to be married on July 4, are registered at the cooking store Williams Sonoma, reports the New York Post, adding that it had no idea the once-virginal Donna Martin of "Beverly Hills, 90210" was so domestic. Among the items sought by the couple in their registry (despite the fact that Spelling's dad, kazillionaire TV producer Aaron Spelling, could probably afford to buy the entire store chain): mixing bowls and muffin and cake pans.

EXPECTING: Helen Hunt, 40, and her boyfriend, producer Matthew Carnahan, are about to be parents, a rep for the "As Good As It Gets" Oscar winner and former "Mad About You" star confirms. Spokesman Stephen Huvane says the baby is due in the summer. Hunt has reportedly been dating Carnahan (whose credits include being a consulting producer on TV's "The Fugitive") since 2001, following the collapse of her 17-month marriage to "Friends" and "The Simpsons" regular Hank Azaria, now 39.
