Music legend Ike Turner died of a cocaine overdose, the San Diego medical examiner’s office confirmed Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The R&B music pioneer and ex-husband of Tina Turner was 76 when he died Dec. 12 at his home in San Marcos, Calif. The coroner’s report lists the cause of Turner’s death as “cocaine toxicity.”
Turner, whose volatile relationship with his wife was chronicled in her autobiography and the movie What’s Love Got to Do With It? had struggled with drug addiction since the mid-1970s.
Married four times and the father of four children, Turner was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.

A rep for Tina Turner has released a statement to Access Hollywood following the death of her ex-husband Ike Turner:
"Tina hasn’t had any contact with Ike in more than 30 years. No further comment will be made."

Ike Turner, the legendary musician and former husband of Tina Turner, has died at 76.
"He did pass away this morning" at his home near San Diego, said Scott M. Hanover of Thrill Entertainment Group, which managed Turner's career, according to the Associated Press.
