Jack Osbourne Helps Catch a Mugger

Originally posted 09/29/2008 08:30AM

Jack Osbourne – son of Ozzy and Sharon and brother of Kelly – chased a mugger down the road after watching him snatch a woman's bag.

Osbourne, 22, was with a friend at a coffee shop in London's Marylebone neighborhood when he witnessed the incident. Police say five people were involved in catching the mugger, including the former reality TV star, his friend and a paramedic who happened to be in the shop. The five pinned down the mugger until police arrived on the scene.

Osbourne told Britain's News of the World: "I could see the girl was in trouble. It just felt like the natural thing to do. I'm glad it turned out okay."

Jack Osbourne wants to set the record straight about his famous father. And that means taking a few swipes at the MTV reality show that put his family back on the map.

"I think The Osbournes, to a degree, tarnished the public's perception of my dad as a bit of a senile, funny, bumbling guy," Jack tells Rolling Stone magazine. "Yeah, my dad can be that guy, but it's not [all of] him. "

Now Jack is trying to rejuvenate his dad's rocker legacy. He has recruited his own pals and his dad's former bandmates to contribute to a documentary he began shooting in January.

Scrubs star Zach Braff had some real-life lows to draw from when writing, directing and starring in the offbeat comedy Garden State, in which his character experiences some seriously crushing unhappiness. "I've been in some really depressed periods of my life," says Braff, 29, adding that his flourishing career doesn't make him immune to the blues. "I was a waiter three years ago. But financial and career success doesn't necessarily kill a good malaise. That's one of the hard things about becoming successful – you can't tell people you're depressed. You've got to keep it to your parents – they're the only ones who'll listen."

Daze of Their Lives

Stepping into the living room of her four-bedroom Beverly Hills mansion, Sharon Osbourne appears far more delicate than she did in the first season of MTV's The Osbournes. Four months of chemotherapy have taken a toll: Her weight has dwindled by 22 lbs. Her 5'2" frame is swallowed up in her white robe. "I don't know what that stuff is they put inside you," she says as she settles down on a velvet sofa with a Pomeranian named Minnie and her husband, heavy-metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, "but it shrinks you as well."
