As a loving mother to her three children with husband Will Smith – Trey, Jaden and Willow – Jada Pinkett Smith can draw from her experience for her role as a strong single mom on the TNT drama pilot, which she is also executive producing, Time Heals.
Pinkett Smith will play Nancy Hawthorne, which the network describes as the strong but caring director of a nursing hospital in North Carolina, a single mother who places the pain of others first.
In terms of her role off-screen, Pinkett Smith, 37, acknowledges that neither she nor Will exerts a particularly heavy hand.

DJ Jazzy Jeff: Smith Is 'Still the Same Will'

Will Smith may be on top at the box office once again with Hancock, but his longtime friend and former rap partner DJ Jazzy Jeff says the success and fame hasn't gone to the Fresh Prince's head.
"He's the biggest movie star on the planet, [but] he's still the same Will – the same good guy," Jazzy Jeff, 43, tells PEOPLE. "He's just a little harder to get in touch with."
The "Parents Just Don't Understand" duo recently reunited for an impromptu show at the Hancock premiere in Hollywood.

“My dad gives me tips,” Willow told PEOPLE last week at the New York City premiere of Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, in which she costars. “He says listen to the director and feel the moment.” And did she feel the moment? “Yes, I did.”

PREPARED: For the past few months, Jada Pinkett Smith, 32, has been quietly honing her vocal prowess performing with her rock-soul band, Wicked Wisdom, in small clubs around L.A, PEOPLE reports. Now the group has scored its biggest coup yet: opening for Britney Spears's Onyx Hotel Tour for eight dates in Britain come April and May. Pinkett Smith put the band together a year or so ago. "She's been singing her whole life but chose to focus on acting," says a source, who tells the magazine that Wicked Wisdom is working on a CD.
