Stars Pre-Party in L.A. Ahead of Grammys

Los Angeles got the party started on Friday with a host of pre-Grammy
bashes attracting some of the biggest names in music and Hollywood.
At the MusiCares Person of the Year gala benefit honoring Neil Young, artists including
Dave Matthews, Wilco, Elvis Costello and John Mellencamp performed more than a dozen of
the folk-rock legend's classic songs.
After singing "Rockin' In the Free World" with John Fogarty and Booker T., Keith Urban ran
up to grab his wife, Nicole Kidman, who was happily singing along to the tribute.

Jake Gyllenhaal Chats Up Jennifer Aniston at a Garden Party

• Golden Globes weekend got off to a starry start at the Buffalo Club in Santa Monica, Calif., where Creative Artists Agency held a private party on the restaurant's garden patio. Jake Gyllenhaal chatted up Jennifer Aniston, and despite his recent breakup, the actor "was in a great mood," a party guest tells us. But the actor spent most of his time talking to his sister Maggie and Peter Sarsgaard. Meanwhile, the 200 guests nibbled on hors d'oeuvres like oysters and Ahi tuna carpaccio on the patio, which was decked out with lanterns and candles. "The patio was absolutely packed and the atmosphere was very glamorous and fun," says a source. "Wherever you turned, you would bump into a big movie star."

Jake Gyllenhaal braved the snowy New York City weather for a guys' night out at the Smyth Tribeca hotel, where Justin Theroux, Mark Ronson and Scott Campbell were throwing a bash to benefit God's Love We Deliver, an HIV/AIDS charity. The single actor chatted the night away with Matt Dillon and they seemed like they were having a great time, a source says. Ronson, meanwhile, provided the evening's soundtrack and guests like Josh Hartnett and Mary-Louise Parker danced the night away.

Jake Gyllenhaal showed up dateless to his sister's Los Angeles movie premiere Tuesday night – but he was far from alone.
While actor's relationship with Reese Witherspoon recently ended according to a source, Gyllenhaal happily showed up without her at the premiere of Crazy Heart, which stars Maggie Gyllenhaal. Jake 28, stuck close by his big sis and their family for most of the night.
"He seemed very normal and relaxed, and very happy for his sister," said a fellow theatergoer. "Tonight was all about her."

Is there hope for Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon's relationship?
Amid reports of "are they or aren't they still a couple," Gyllenhaal, 28, used the buzz word of the week – girlfriend – shortly after arriving at a Beverly Hills Hotel suite Thursday for a press conference for his new film Brothers.
"I've learned so much from the kids in my life, and somehow they just become the center of your life and the way you look at things," he told Grazia Australia, referring to his 3-year-old niece Ramona (daughter of Maggie Gyllenhaal) and possibly Witherspoon's children, Ava, 10, and Deacon, 6. "Obviously I exist in my girlfriend's world and my sister's world in a different way, but it's opened my heart and I feel much more grown up and want to be grown up as a result of it."
