• Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon, celebrating Bastille Day in Paris with a bang. The couple took in the traditional fireworks display, with Gyllenhaal hoisting Witherspoon's daughter Ava, 8, on his shoulders to give her a better view. Earlier, the couple had lunched at L'Avenue, a restaurant on Avenue Montaigne, before setting off separately. (Witherspoon headed to the Vogue offices, while her beau went shopping in the trendy Marais district.) But they met up again for tea at Mariage Frères before the light show.

Maggie Gyllenhaal: Brother Jake Is a Natural with Kids

About to break out of indie films and into blockbuster stardom with The Dark Knight, Maggie Gyllenhaal opens up about her family – including her little brother, Jake.

"He's great with kids – it comes naturally to him," Maggie says in the August issue of Marie Claire, about Jake Gyllenhaal, frequently seen in the company of girlfriend Reese Witherspoon and her children. "He really has that touch."

And Maggie should know. Her daughter, Ramona, turns 2 in October.

• Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal, responded "very pleasantly" to an older male diner who approached them at Zaytinya, in Washington D.C. Other diners, meanwhile, let the pair eat in peace, as they shared a salad, followed by the grilled lamb on a skewer and grilled baby octopus. Gyllenhaal also had some snails sauteed in garlic, the Washington Post" reports, but Witherspoon steered clear.

• Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal, sharing an early breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien in Brentwood, Calif. Walking in with their arms around each other, the casually dressed pair shared a table for two in the back, ordering coffee, an omelette and fruit. The pair talked and traded sections of the Los Angeles Times at the table. Later that night, the couple was spotted again – this time at West Hollywood's Chateau Marmont where they celebrated Robert Downey Jr.'s 43rd birthday with Cameron Diaz, Gerard Butler, Ben Stiller and more.

Ryan Phillippe: Seeing Reese With Jake Is 'Bizarre'

He knew it was coming, but that doesn't make it any easier for Ryan Phillippe to see ex-wife Reese Withersoon with her new man.

"It's bizarre," the actor told USA Today Wednesday, adding that he avoids looking at photos of Witherspoon and boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal.

"There's plenty of times when I say, 'What a strange situation I've found myself in,' " he said. "But at a certain point you know it's going to happen, so you are prepared."
