Donnie Darko turns 13 this week. As you travel down your own wormhole of nostalgia, here are 13 pieces of appropriately quirky Darko trivia.
1. Director Richard Kelly mistakenly attributes the "cellar door" quote ("This famous linguist once said that of all the phrases in the English language, of all the endless combinations of words in all of history, that 'cellar door' is the most beautiful") to Edgar Allan Poe on the film's commentary track. The quote actually belongs to J.R.R. Tolkien (from his 1955 essay "English and Welsh"), and reads, "Most English-speaking people ... will admit that cellar door is 'beautiful', especially if dissociated from its sense (and from its spelling). More beautiful than, say, 'sky,' and far more beautiful 'than beautiful.'"

Ouch! Jake Gyllenhaal stepped out with a bandaged hand on Friday when he attended a screening of his film Prisoners in L.A.
The actor, 32, injured his hand and ended up in the emergency room on Wednesday after punching a mirror on the set of his new film Nightcrawler, but he smiled as he posed with Maria Bello on the red carpet at ArcLight Hollywood.
A source close to the star tells PEOPLE that the actor received stitches to his left hand but returned to the set in L.A. hours after the accident.

Jake Gyllenhaal was sent to the emergency room after punching a mirror on the Los Angeles set of his new film Nightcrawler Wednesday morning.
"Jake flipped out," a Nightcrawler source tells PEOPLE. "His character was looking into a mirror during the scene and punched the mirror in anger and broke it, cutting himself so bad he had to be taken to a hospital."
And while a source close to Gyllenhaal, 32, confirms the actor received stitches in the emergency room, the source says the reason for the incident was nothing more than a moment in character during an intense scene after an 18-hour day.

Jake Gyllenhaal is the latest actor to drop major weight for a movie, but he says it's really not that different from prepping for any role.
"I think [I've lost] probably a little over 20 pounds, something like that," the actor, 32, told PEOPLE Monday on the red carpet at the Hollywood Film Awards, where he looked noticeably thinner as he was honored for his role in Prisoners.
While he may look different, his approach hasn't changed as he prepares for Nightcrawler, Gyllenhaal said.

What happens when you get Sandra Bullock, Matthew McConaughey and Julia Roberts in the same room?
PEOPLE found out for you at Monday's Hollywood Film Awards – and we had a photo booth to document all of the behind-the-scenes action at the Beverly Hilton.
Among the first to work it for the cameras: Hollywood Supporting Actor Award honoree Jake Gyllenhaal, who was recognized for his work in Prisoners. Next up? Before Midnight costars (and Hollywood Screenwriter Award recipients) Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, who were photo-bombed by none other than Jack Black. (Aren't you glad what happens in the photo booth doesn't stay in the photo booth?)
