Jake Owen's tour bus roommate has taken over the couch.
"He sleeps 16 hours a day," the country star tells PEOPLE of his 1-year-old English bulldog, Merle, who likes to sprawl out on the plush leather sofa – and stay there.
Currently touring with Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw, the "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" singer, 30, unwinds every night by messing around with Merle, one of Owen's two dogs that travels with him (the other, Vern, retired from touring after a few years).

Jake Owen managed to squeeze in a low-key May wedding with his bride Lacey Buchanan, but fitting in a lovers' getaway is proving to be much more difficult.
"We haven't gone on our honeymoon," Owen, 30, told PEOPLE at the CMT Music Awards on Wednesday.
While the newlyweds' retreat can wait, tying the knot just couldn't.
"With this tour starting with Kenny [Chesney] and Tim [McGraw], I said, 'Babe, if we don't [get married] this year, I'm going to be busy all throughout next year,' " Owen said. "Lacey was just like, 'Let's just do it now.' "

Country star Jake Owen and his model girlfriend Lacey Buchanan are officially Mr. and Mrs. Owen.
The couple, who met when Buchanan appeared in Owen's music video for "8 Second Ride" and began dating after she starred in the video for his hit "Barefoot Blue Jean Night," tied the knot in a sunrise ceremony Monday morning in Owen's hometown of Vero Beach, Fla.
But there were no blue jeans on the beach.

Talk about a surprise engagement.
Country singer Jake Owen proposed to his girlfriend, Lacey Buchanan, on Saturday night in front of friends and family at the Citrus Bowl at Vero Beach High (his alma mater).
While singing his hit "Don't Think I Can't Love You," Owen brought Buchanan out on stage for what at first appeared to be a dance. He then got down on one knee and popped the question in front of the audience. He was just missing one thing.
"You're probably wondering where your ring is, right?" Owen could be heard asking over the speakers.

He's ready for the spotlight again.
Ashton Kutcher has been added to the roster of presenters for the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. It's one of the first award show appearances for the Two and a Half Men star since splitting from wife Demi Moore in November.
Kutcher, who has been laying low and most recently linked to screenwriter Lorene Scafaria, will present the award for female vocalist of the year. The nominees are Sara Evans, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood.
