Jason Wahler is the latest celeb to open up about his battle with substance abuse and addiction in the wake of Philip Seymour Hoffman's death.
On Thursday, the former The Hills star, 27, wrote a personal essay for The Huffington Post, in which he explained how he deftly kept his addiction a secret from his friends.
"A few years ago, I would host parties at my house in L.A. where there would be 50-100 people raging out of control. While everyone thought I was enjoying the party as much as they were, little did they know I was secretly going into the master bathroom and snorting as much coke and drinking as much alcohol as I could," Wahler reveals, adding that he became quite adept at keeping secrets.

Rumer Willis had a fun night with pals like Robin Williams's daughter Zelda at West Hollywood's Hyde Lounge. She was approached by various clubgoers and smiled all night, acting chatty with everyone who approached her. Still, Willis seemed to be mostly focused on dancing with her gal pals. At one point, she headed out to the smoking patio where former Hills star Jason Wahler, who wasn't drinking, was spotted chatting with guy friends. – Dahvi Shira

He's been clean one year and says he's a changed man. Now, The Hills and Laguna Beach alum Jason Wahler – who had a string of drunk driving arrests and stints in rehab – is making strides with his personal life as well.
"I wanted to make amends with Lauren [Conrad]," he says of his ex-girlfriend. "She was a big part of my life and there's stuff that happened in the past with my drunken ways that I needed to address."
Wahler, 24, currently works in Costa Mesa, Calif., at National Therapeutic Services as a mentor and sober companion. "It feels good to give back," says Wahler, who contacted Conrad recently after feeling more comfortable in his recovery.

He's done it again.
Onetime Hills star Jason Wahler is stewing in a Yakima County, Wash., jail after being nabbed in Seattle on assault and a related drinking charge on Sept. 25, RadarOnline reports.
Familiar words for those who remember his 30-day sentence for getting in a drunken brawl in 2007 in a Seattle hotel – or that incident in 2006, when he was sentenced to two months in jail for battery after punching a tow-truck driver and city employee while shouting ethnic slurs and boasting a blood-alcohol level of .22 percent.
