The second night of American Idol featured a few familiar faces and a whole lot of characters.
For the first time, a second-generation Idol hopeful earned a golden ticket: 15-year-old Tristen Langley – the son of season one's rocker girl Nikki McKibbin, who finished third behind Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini – sang a cool version of Sublime's "Santeria" to earn his way to Hollywood.

If the season 13 premiere of American Idol is any indication, a few things are already clear: The unlucky judge juju is gone, guitar-playing singers will rule Hollywood, and America is likely to be wild about Harry Connick Jr.
With all eyes on the judging panel after last year's Mariah Carey-Nicki Minaj diva drama, returning judge Keith Urban joined Jennifer Lopez, who's back after a transformative year away, and the duo not only oozed likeability and rapport but their star power wowed most contestants.

After a year away from American Idol, Jennifer Lopez is returning to the judges' panel a changed woman.
"That was such a transformative year for me in so many ways," Lopez told reporters Monday ahead of Wednesday's premiere of Idol's 13th season. "I had just divorced, I went on tour with the kids, and I left Idol. All my security blankets were gone, and I was out there doing something I had never done before."

Ben Affleck has one person to thank for his recent slew of successful films: his wife, Jennifer Garner.
In a new interview with Playboy, Affleck, 41, says Garner, also 41, helped provide him with a stable home that separated him from a string of unsuccessful films and being tabloid fodder following his relationship with Jennifer Lopez.
"My wife was definitely around then," says Affleck. "Getting to know her, falling in love with her and being connected with her gave me a foundation to reach out and say, 'Okay, I'm going to do Hollywoodland. I'm going to direct Gone Baby Gone,' " Affleck said. "Those were the steps forward I needed to put positive stuff on the board."

The couple split in July 2011, and Anthony filed divorce papers last year, but the American Idol judge only filed a response on Monday.
