Actress Jeri Ryan Cries Over Ending Maternity Leave

She put her acting on hold for a year so she could be at home with her new daughter, Gisele – and Jeri Ryan lost her pregnancy weight. But now that she is back to work, for a role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, the actress calls the adjustment "rough."
"I cried," Ryan, 41, admitted about the first time she left day Gisele in Los Angeles to go to work on the NBC show in New York. "It was especially hard since I've been with her nonstop since she was born."
The actress, who'll play "ball-busting" attorney Parice Larue in the episode to air April 7, terms her time as a stay-at-home mom as idyllic. "Gisele loves to be outdoors, and we garden together," says Ryan, whose vegetable garden includes broccoli, cabbage and carrots.

Actress Jeri Ryan and her husband, chef Christophe Eme, are the parents of a baby girl, the actress's rep tells PEOPLE.
Gisele Eme was born Sunday in Los Angeles, weighing 7 lbs., 13 oz.
"Both parents are thrilled," Ryan's rep David Lust tells PEOPLE. "Jeri is resting comfortably and Christophe is playing the part of proud new papa quite well."

Jeri Ryan's a dedicated mom who considers her 13-year-old son, Alex, to be her greatest achievement. In an interview with ModernMom.com, Ryan, 39, who's due to give birth to her second child, a daughter in March, discussed her offscreen life.
Between being a parent, starring in CBS's Shark with James Woods, and owning the hip L.A. restaurant Ortolan with her executive chef hubby, Christophe Eme, the ultra-busy Ryan has her priorities in order. The actress says, "You need to know what's important and family is always the most important thing."

Jeri Ryan, who announced her pregnancy two months ago, says she is expecting a girl.
"We are thrilled," the actress tells PEOPLE. "We're so excited, we're just beside ourselves."
Ryan, who wed French chef Christophe Emé in the Loire Valley in June, is due in March.
