Jerry O'Connell Can't Stop His Baby Girls from Giggling

On movie sets and on stage, Jerry O'Connell may have limits to what he'll do for a laugh from his audience. But at home, he finds himself doing just about anything to get giggles out of the fraternal twin girls he and wife Rebecca Romijn welcomed last December.

Luckily, they're a generous audience. "I think of myself as a funny guy but nobody thinks I'm funnier than my daughters [Charlie and Dolly]," O'Connell, 35, tells PEOPLE. "We have three dogs. If I act like one of the dogs with the dogs, they go crazy. It's like we're talking Richard Pryor in his heyday."

O'Connell, who has been taking care of the girls while his wife films her ABC show Eastwick, says his 8-month-old twins even laugh when he's trying to discipline them.

Rebecca Romijn Recruits Jerry O'Connell as Mr. Mom

While Rebecca Romijn plays witch by day – she is currently promoting her new fall series, Eastwick – and mother by night, her husband Jerry O'Connell has happily stepped up to the plate in his own new role: Mr. Mom.

With the couple welcoming their fraternal twin daughters Charlie and Dolly seven months ago, and the actress filming the pilot shortly after their birth, the girls were brought along for the ride.

"They were with me every second of the day," said Romijn. "I was still nursing and I was on a real strict schedule with them."

Rebecca Romijn started her career as a model – and, following in her footsteps, her 4-month-old daughters have now posed for their first fashion photo shoot.

Featured with her girls for an InStyle magazine spread, the actress says that Mom is her most rewarding role to date.

"Being a mom makes me feel whole and like I understand the meaning of life," Romijn, 36, tells InStyle for the June Sexy issue, on newsstands May 22. "All I want to do is stare into my babies' eyes nonstop."

Jerry O'Connell Tries Out Breast Pump

With their twin girls, Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip, born Dec. 28, Jerry O'Connell says his wife, Rebecca Romijn, is performing double duty in the breastfeeding department.

"I don't know why I'm getting nervous saying this," the proud – and jumpy – dad tells Ellen DeGeneres for Friday the 13th's The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

"I'm not saying anything dirty, it's natural but [Rebecca] does what we call the double football – which is just incredible, because it's like three beings attached," he says. "It's like something out of Cirque du Soleil. It's crazy."

What could be better than becoming a new uncle to your brother's twin daughters? For Charlie O'Connell, having one named after you!

The consummate jokester tells PEOPLE that when he learned Jerry O'Connell and sister-in-law Rebecca Romijn named one of their little girls after him, he immediately thought, "[this] is going to help with my credit."

O'Connell, 33, who met Charlie Tamara Tulip and Dolly Rebecca Rose in the hospital shortly after their Dec. 28 birth, says, "to see the baby and have Charlie meet Charlie was a real special moment." He adds that the fraternal twins were "taking their turns" crying and sleeping in the hospital: "They seemed pretty independent."
