Jerry O'Connell says he got "a little bit of a surprise" when he arrived on the set of his new sitcom, We Are Men, and took a look at his wardrobe – a collection of Speedos.
"It is probably the most nerve-wracking job for me to put those on every morning," O'Connell, 39, said at the 2013 CBS Summer TCA Press Tour, admitting that it's a turnaround from being known "as the fat kid from Stand By Me."
But the actor, whose show debuts Sept. 30 on CBS, says putting on the skimpy swimwear "is something that I have embraced. I have joined a gym. I have started drinking light beer. It is just something I am going to have to deal with in this role."

Jennie Garth made sure Monday night was relaxing for herself and for her three kids.
The actress and daughters Luca, Lola and Fiona came through 104.3 My FM's My Big Night Out 2 VIP lounge, at the Hollywood Bowl, where she was treated to a paraffin massage from a Burke Williams masseuse.
"Jennie told her kids to take photos with her," an onlooker tells PEOPLE. "She looked amazing and appeared to have shed some pounds. She seemed like she was in a great mood."
Following her pampering session, the newly single star rewarded her little ones for their patience by taking them to watch Kelly Clarkson in concert later that night.
The pop star performed a slew of hits, including, "My Life Would Suck Without You," "Since U Been Gone" and "Stronger," along with a cover of Fun.'s "We Are Young."
Just a couple of days earlier, the Bowl brought out Jerry O'Connell and Eric Stonestreet, who came to watch a performance of The Producers. The musical stars O'Connell's wife Rebecca Romijn, and Stonestreet's on-screen Modern Family beau, Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
"Jerry and Eric both looked beaming and happy," an onlooker tells PEOPLE. "Mel Brooks took the stage at the end."

November 11, 2011 (a.k.a. 11/11/11) is a big day for mathematicians, historians, numerologists, and the like. Celebrities? Not so much. Aside from Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell, that is.
"If we happen to look at our phone and it's 11:11, one of us always texts the other," says O'Connell. The significance of the numbers for the Romijn-O'Connell clan comes from their numerical symmetry: "There's two of us – Rebecca and I – and the two of our kids," explains the actor, 37.
So the couple decided that Friday, 11/11/11 was a day worthy of celebration.

Alas, Josh Duhamel will not be greeting viewers every weekday morning with Kelly Ripa.
Rumors had circled that the Transformers star was on the short-list of guys being considered to replace Regis Philbin when he retires from Live! with Regis and Kelly later this year.
But it's not to be, says Duhamel
"I wouldn't be very good at it," Duhamel told sports radio talk show host Dan Patrick on Monday, adding that the job requires "special skills" he doesn't have. "I can't tell you where that rumor came from."
But Duhamel does have an idea of who should get the job.
"My buddy Jerry O’Connell would be great and that’s who I'm voting for," he said, adding, "but I don't know if he's up for it."

Jerry O'Connell knows how to strike a pose. But then, he has an excellent modeling muse.
"I get a lot of tips from my wife, who just happens to be a supermodel," O'Connell, 36, said of his wife of three years, Rebecca Romijn, 37. "She tells me to pick a point in the lens and really focus on it."
O'Connell, who costars with Jim Belushi on CBS's The Defenders, recently put Romijn's tips to use while posing for the cover of VEGAS magazine.

Jerry O'Connell's recent studies at law school will come in handy sooner than expected, as he's signed on to play a lawyer in a new comic drama series on CBS.
O'Connell, 36, began taking night classes at Southwestern Law School in L.A. last August. This fall, he and Jim Belushi will portray two colorful Las Vegas defense attorneys in The Defenders.
"The script is great. The characters are a lot of fun," O'Connell says in a preview clip at CBS.com. "But really I wanted to work with Mr. Belushi. Comedy comes easy to him, but he is a dramatic actor."

On movie sets and on stage, Jerry O'Connell may have limits to what he'll do for a laugh from his audience. But at home, he finds himself doing just about anything to get giggles out of the fraternal twin girls he and wife Rebecca Romijn welcomed last December.
Luckily, they're a generous audience. "I think of myself as a funny guy but nobody thinks I'm funnier than my daughters [Charlie and Dolly]," O'Connell, 35, tells PEOPLE. "We have three dogs. If I act like one of the dogs with the dogs, they go crazy. It's like we're talking Richard Pryor in his heyday."
O'Connell, who has been taking care of the girls while his wife films her ABC show Eastwick, says his 8-month-old twins even laugh when he's trying to discipline them.

Jerry O'Connell is hitting the books: The actor has enrolled at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles.
"I had always planned on continuing my education at some point," said the star who is dad to twin girls with wife Rebecca Romijn and because my wife is working on Eastwick, which is on Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. this fall, and I'm home all day with the girls, I figured I would take a couple of classes at night. "
As for how else he would have possibly passed the time? "It was either [law school] or play video games until 2 a.m.," he joked
Leslie Steinberg, Assistant Dean of Public Affairs at the school, told E! Online that the actor is enrolled as a part-time student and began attending classes last week.
