Alleged Zeta-Jones Stalker Enters Plea

PLEADED: A woman charged with stalking and threatening actress Catherine Zeta-Jones entered a no contest plea to one felony count of stalking and three counts of making criminal threats, the Associated Press reports. Dawnette Knight, 33, entered the plea Friday in a Los Angeles court. She is accused of sending threatening letters to Zeta-Jones and people close to the actress, and faces up to five years in prison, which will be determined after a 90-day evaluation. Knight was arrested June 3.

Friends and family members gathered Friday for a quintessential New York memorial service for a quintessential New York actor, Law & Order star Jerry Orbach, who died of prostate cancer last Tuesday. He was 69.

On Wednesday, as Broadway dimmed its lights in tribute to Jerry Orbach after the announcement of his death, NBC said it would proceed with plans to introduce the new series Law & Order: Trial by Jury despite the loss of one of its leading stars.

DIAGNOSED: Law & Order star Jerry Orbach, 69, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, his manager, Robert Malcolm, tells New York's Daily News. "We expect he'll be fine. He's been playing golf, shooting his episodes and doing real well." Added series creator Dick Wolf: "We expect him to make a full and swift recovery, and while he is receiving treatment, we will work around his schedule." Orbach starred for 12 seasons in the original Law & Order series, but left to head the spinoff Law & Order: Trial by Jury, set to debut next year.
