Jewel and Ty Murray Welcome a Son

The time has come for Jewel to sing lullabies.
The singer and her husband, professional bull rider Ty Murray, welcomed a son, Kase Townes Murray, on Monday evening in Texas, their rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.
Kase arrived at 7 p.m. CST and weighed in at 7 lbs., 6 oz.
"Ty and I are so pleased to welcome our new baby boy into the world," Jewel tells PEOPLE. "We are overcome with happiness – it really is as great as everyone told us it would be – better even!"

Jewel Shocked to See Damage to Her Car in Crash

Jewel says that despite being "a little sore and banged up," she felt "safe" after getting hit by a fire truck.
Then she finally took a look at the photo.
"Geez – I didn't really see the accident I was in til the paper yesterday," the singer, 36, Tweeted Monday. "The fire truck def won."
The truck collided Friday with the unoccupied passenger side of her Cadillac SRX. Following tests at the hospital, the expectant mom's rep issued a statement saying that "she and the baby are doing fine."

Jewel is recovering well this weekend from an accident that could have been much worse for her – and her unborn baby.
On Friday, the pregnant singer, 36, was hit by a fire truck in Texas, but doctors said both she and the baby would be fine. On Saturday, the singer said she had her car to thank for that.
"[One] thing I do know is my car saved my & my baby's life," Jewel Tweeted. "Definitely going 2 get another Cadillac SRX! It absorbed all the damage & kept me safe!"

Jewel Hit by a Fire Truck

Jewel had a close call on Friday morning.
The singer, 36, who is expecting her first child with husband Ty Murray, was involved in an accident with a fire truck, her rep confirms.
"Jewel was hit by a fire truck this morning in Texas," the rep says in a statement. "The singer was taken to the hospital and current medical tests conducted indicate that she and the baby and doing fine."
According to TMZ.com, the expectant mom's car was hit on the passenger side by the truck.

Jewel and Ty Murray can finally start painting their nursery.
"We would have been happy either way, of course, but we are so excited to be
having a little boy," the singer, 36, tells PEOPLE.
The couple, who are expecting their first child this summer, had been
waiting to find out the sex of their baby before finalizing a remodel of
their guest room at their 2,200-acre ranch in Texas.
"I have to admit, I was doing a little dance on our way out of the doctor's
office when we found out!" says Murray, a nine-time World Champion rodeo
cowboy.

It was on the first day of her job as the co-host of Bravo's upcoming new reality show Going Platinum that Jewel received the happy news.
"I took a pregnancy test and it was positive!" the singer, 36, tells PEOPLE. "It was so hard to keep it a secret. I was worried I'd start throwing up on set and everyone would be like, 'Oh, she's pregnant.' "
Now in her second trimester, Jewel and her husband, rodeo star Ty Murray, are finally ready to share their happy news.

Kara DioGuardi to Judge New Song-Writing Show

Less than two months after exiting American Idol, Kara DioGuardi is heading back to television as the head judge on Going Platinum, a new song-writing competition on Bravo, the network confirms.
"Hit songs are the backbone of the music industry, and as a publisher, nothing excites me more than finding new songwriting talent," DioGuardi says. "I am happy to be a part of a show that helps up and coming songwriters pursue their dreams, while giving the public a look into the creative process."
Jewel will host the show and help judge the competition, along with a music executive and celebrity guests. Going Platinum starts taping this month and will premiere in 2011.

A serving of Jewel's Acoustic Smoked Chicken Quesadilla may just hit the spot.
The country singer is the latest star to team up with Denny's to create a signature dish featured on the restaurant chain's Allnight Rockstar menu, which serves a late-night crowd from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Jewel isn't the only celebrity dish on tap. The menu also offers among others, Rascal Flatts's Unstoppable Breakfast or a Hooburrito, developed by rockers Hoobastank.

Jewel Kicks Off Good Cause – with a Kiss

Valentine's Day isn't for another three months, but Jewel is helping kick off the second annual Kiss for Country charitable campaign, aimed at wiping out domestic violence – with Reba McEntire, Laila Ali, LeAnn Rimes, Kellie Pickler, Wynonna, Naomi Judd, Sarah Evans and Jennifer Hanson also among those lending their lips for the cause.
The country artists are providing their kiss prints and autographs so they can be auctioned off to benefit domestic violence prevention starting next Tuesday, Nov. 11, when Jewel will unveil the love signs.
The auction, on uBid.com, runs through Dec. 12, with all proceeds benefiting the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation and domestic violence prevention.
Mary Kay is the official beauty sponsor of the 42nd Annual CMA Awards, in partnership with the Country Music Association. As part of a $3 million commitment, the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation will provide a grant in the name of each participating artist to domestic violence prevention shelters around the country in 2009.
The 42nd Annual CMA Awards airs live from Nashville on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
