R&B singer and actress Jill Scott and her fiancé, drummer Lil John Roberts, have welcomed their first child, a boy, her manager confirms to PEOPLE.
Jett Hamilton Roberts was born at 4:20 p.m. on April 20. He weighed in at 7 lbs., 8 oz.
Scott, who stars on HBO's new series The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, based on the popular novels by Alexander McCall Smith, discovered she was pregnant shortly before leaving for Botswana to film the show.

Jill Scott has her hands full with yet another mystery this week on her new HBO show, The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency – and PEOPLE.com has a sneak peek of the episode.
In the clip, Scott's character, Private investigator Precious Ramotswe, seeks help from her admiring friend JLB (Lucien Msamati) in his car repair shop after encountering a deadly snake while driving – and makes a surprise discovery.
Of course, Precious has more than just venom on her mind: She has several cases to solve. One involves a frightened shopkeeper, who can't sleep. Another is about a "two o'clock doctor," whose patients keep dying on Fridays at 2 p.m. Plus, she looks into a possible poisoning. Tune in to watch Precious get to the bottom of these mysteries.

R&B Singer and Actress Jill Scott Is Pregnant

Jill Scott is pregnant with her first child, the R&B singer and actress revealed to reporters at the Television Critics Association conference in Los Angeles on Friday.
Promoting her new HBO series The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, based on the popular novels by Alexander McCall Smith, Scott said she discovered that she was pregnant just before leaving for Botswana where she filmed the show.
"The first trimester I spent in Botswana," said the star, who is due April 25. "That was one of the biggest challenges of my life. First trimester! You're sick every morning. It was seven hours time difference, the heat, the bugs, the 14 hour days."
Still, the actress, who is engaged to drummer Lil' John Roberts, says she's glad she went through with the plans to film. "My doctors gave me a clean bill of health and said you can do this, so I did it."

Angie Harmon once skinny-dipped with her husband, Jason Sehorn, on a private beach in Bora Bora. But now the Women's Murder Club star is stripping down in front of the entire world. Harmon is one of five celebs – including Gabrielle Union, Jill Scott, Zoe McLellan and Ana Ortiz – who shed their clothes in Allure's May issue.
And Harmon says the photo shoot isn't about selling sex, "It's about showing the female body in a positive, beautiful way." And singer-actress Jill Scott agrees, telling the magazine she hopes her pictorial inspires other women. "Here I am, naked in a magazine at size 16 ... We are all beautiful, each and every one of us."
