Jenny McCarthy is newly single and ready to mingle – but not with just anyone.

The actress, writer and TV personality, 38, says experience has made her more picky when it comes to the opposite sex.

"I can't do any celebrities," McCarthy, who most notably dated Jim Carrey, told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM morning show Friday. "I need normal folks. I'm officially done [with Hollywood guys]. It was on my bucket list. Maybe I can check that one off my list."

Originally posted 09/27/2010 01:40PM

They were all but inseparable starting in early 2007, but by this past April came the news that Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey were going their separate ways.

While others – including Hugh Hefner, a fan of the former couple's – speculated on what went wrong, Oprah Winfrey is getting right to the heart of the matter by asking McCarthy herself, "Tell me, when did you know it was over? "

In her response that airs on Tuesday's The Oprah Winfrey Show, McCarthy, 37, says, "You know, the simple word I can give – and there's a few, so let me say a few. The first thing is, when it's not fun anymore, you need to start investigating and do an inquiry into the relationship."

Having insisted on Sunday night that fans should not be concerned about his behavior – "This is no breakdown! It's a breakthrough! And if you'll just loosen these straps, I'll show you the difference!" he Tweeted – Jim Carrey may now have hoisted a new red flag.

In what is being labeled as a response to the press coverage of his recent Tweets, Carrey released a statement, which he also posted: "To anyone whose grievances have chosen me as their cause, I would say first, that I recognize that tendency in myself, but if you knew me well, you'd see that your resentment has been misplaced. I wish every human being nothing but love and immeasurable happiness. Now, I'm going to re-enter the Twitter stream and see if there is anyone left to offend!"

Tuesday night brought another explosion of Carrey Tweets, all of which follow his recent breakup with Jenny McCarthy.

Jim Carrey's relationship with Jenny McCarthy isn't the only thing that's in the past. So too, he says, is a part of himself he's happy to shed.

"I have freed Truman at long last!," Carrey wrote in an explosion of post-breakup Tweets, referring to his alter-ego from The Truman Show whose entire life was surreptitiously filmed for a reality show.

"I am grateful for my avatar's many yrs of dedicated service, but no one has ever won the Tour De France while back peddling. … so I killed him," he wrote late Sunday night. "I do not plan 2 bow to expectations or to be confined by the fear of losing altitude in the 'statusphere'! (my word)."
