Jodie Sweetin recently underwent an emergency investigation by an Orange County, Calif., family court for allegations of substance abuse raised by her estranged husband, PEOPLE confirms.
After a hearing, a judge made a temporary ruling Wednesday that Sweetin's custody over 8-month-old daughter Zoie must only be in Sweetin's parents' home (where she currently lives) or in her parents' presence. The court also ruled the estranged couple share custody 50-50 for now.
Her estranged husband, Cody Herpin, tells PEOPLE that his "main concern" is to "keep Jodie clean and safe."
"I'm very proud of Jodie when she's sober," Herpin says. "But right now she needs to be strong and think about our daughter. She needs to be strong for our daughter. I obviously care about Jodie. Right now, she's still my wife. I still care about her and I still want her to be safe."

Three days after Jodie Sweetin filed for legal separation from husband Cody Herpin, her agent tells PEOPLE that the actress is "trying to stay positive for Zoie," their 7-month-old daughter.
"Her focus is the baby," agent Stella Alex said on Saturday. "Jodie's got a huge support system in her family and friends and she thinks this is what's best for her."
For his part, Herpin, 31, says he's "still discombobulated" over the split. "Not knowing what's going on is hard." He adds that Sweetin, 26, and their daughter are staying with her parents. "It's rough," he says. "Marriage is not taken lightly to me. It's supposed to be forever."
According to the Superior Court papers filed Wednesday in Orange County, Calif., Sweetin cited "irreconcilable differences" as the cause of the split, and she is seeking joint legal and physical custody of Zoie.

Former Full House star and new mom Jodie Sweetin is splitting with her husband.
Sweetin, 26, filed papers Wednesday in Orange County, Calif., for legal separation from Cody Herpin, 31, whom the actress had once called a "blessing" who helped turn around her life after years of methamphetamine addiction. The couple became parents of daughter Zoie in April.
"I was dumbfounded," Herpin tells PEOPLE, adding that Sweetin left their home and took their 7-month-old girl. "Over this past month something has been different. I'm concerned about our daughter and I just want (Zoie) home."
Sweetin's agent, Stella Alex, says the actress is "absolutely clean" and that the couple have "come to this path in their life and she felt like this is the way she had to go. Jodie says it's unfortunate but it's just what has to happen right now. No more detail, only because she says she doesn't want to be disrespectful to him."

"You look at your baby and think, 'Wow, I did that.' It's really amazing," Sweetin, 26, tells PEOPLE in its new cover story, on sale Friday.
As Zoie happily snoozes on the shoulder of her dad, Sweetin's husband of 10 months Cody Herpin, the marveling mother says, "I'm still like, 'Oh, wow, I'm a mom.' It's the most overwhelming, exciting thing I've ever done."
And a far cry from where she's been.
Best known for playing spunky middle child Stephanie on Full House from age 5 to 13, Sweetin then landed a real-life role that cast her against type: battling an addiction to crystal meth.
