The Office Finale Was a Big, Frustrating, Lovable Mess, Says PEOPLE's Critic
Originally posted 05/17/2013 08:45AM
The series finale of The Office took up an hour and 15 minutes of NBC's prime-time schedule Thursday night. The last quarter-hour had a special sentimental magic, as we got parting moments with each of the characters at the Dunder Mifflin paper company of Scranton, Pa.
The rest you could have fed into a shredder.
After a season that carefully worked out significant narrative strands – the ultimately inevitable ascension to manager of the insufferable Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson), the unexpectedly tender travails in the marriage of Jim and Pam (John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer) – this episode was poorly conceived and clumsily structured.
It really wasn't worthy of all the years of affectionate humor that had gone before it.

Emily Blunt Opens Up About Married Life with John Krasinski
Originally posted 04/16/2013 09:00AM
Think Emily Blunt's day-to-day existence is as glamorous as the day she got married almost three years ago to John Krasinski at George Clooney's Italian villa? Think again.
"I spend my life in sweatpants and covered in mud," Blunt, 30, tells InStyle for its May cover story, as she also admits to letting the couple's oversized lab, Finn, cuddle beside them in bed.
That doesn't leave a lot of extra space because, as she puts it, "I have an enormous husband – he's 6'3"! – and an enormous dog." The British actress also says her star husband has an enormous heart.

Matt Damon Takes Over Jimmy Kimmel Live
Originally posted 01/25/2013 08:00AM
Matt Damon more than made up for his decade of being bumped from Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Declaring "I am in command of this ship," Damon not only hijacked the show Thursday night, but he brought along a little big-name help.
Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Kidman, Demi Moore, Amy Adams, Sally Field, Robert De Niro, Don Cheadle, John Krasinski and Oprah Winfrey all played a part.
Andy Garcia sat in as sidekick. Sheryl Crow led the band.
And where was Kimmel? Oh, he was there, all right: gagged and tied on the back of the set, as Damon took over.

Jenna Fischer Cried Tears of Joy over John Krasinski's Office Casting
Originally posted 01/24/2013 07:00PM
It was love at first audition for Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski.
Fischer, who plays Pam to Krasinski's Jim on The Office, isn't sure their characters would have become the fan-favorites they are if he hadn't been chosen to play her husband.
"I was paired up with John often and I thought this was good because he was my favorite Jim," Fischer explains of the final round of eight actors – four Pams and four Jims – on Thursday's episode of The Jeff Probst Show.
"On the second day, John whispered to me, 'You're my favorite Pam. I hope you get it.' "

Is Promised Land a Fracking Good Movie?
Originally posted 01/04/2013 06:00PM
It's award season, which naturally means there are plenty of great movies lingering in theaters.
It's also January, which means, well, let me put it this way: You know that gross mix of old slush, dirt and motor oil that submerges your boots as you step off a street corner around this time of year? That's what debuts in theaters around now.
So what do we do make of Promised Land, a Matt Damon/John Krasinski movie (yay!) that opens in January (oh dear)?

Move over, Ben Affleck! John Krasinski wants to be Matt Damon's new best friend.
"Matt is one of the coolest guys I know, and I'm totally in love with the guy, but he doesn't even know my name," Krasinski joked to PEOPLE at the New York premiere of his new movie Promised Land on Tuesday.
"I would love to have a bromance with him," he continues, "but I don't even know if I could even use the word 'bromance' because he and Ben are so tight and like a married couple that I'll never get in there."
The Office star, 33, first met Damon through his wife Emily Blunt when she starred in 2011's The Adjustment Bureau with him.

Lindsay Lohan Giggles with Gerard Butler at Chateau Marmont
Originally posted 03/26/2012 06:00AM
It was a (typically) star-studded night at West Hollywood's Chateau Marmont.
Lindsay Lohan may have (mostly) been preoccupied with her cell phone during her evening out with friends – she was glued to it, constantly texting, as were her pals – but that didn't stop her entirely from taking notice of fellow celebs. The starlet jumped out of her chair and ran to give Emily Blunt a hug when she saw the British actress approaching. They shared some pleasant small talk – and smiles – before Blunt headed away with her friend.
Soon, though, Lohan had another visitor: Gerard Butler, who arrived on the patio after midnight and sauntered over to the garden bar near where Lindsay and her friends were seated. The two were laughing and telling jokes, and Butler kept his hands on both sides of her chair as he leaned in close to talk. She was soaking up the attention and even asked him to come closer so she could whisper in his ear.
