How Jen Aniston and John Mayer Have 'Remained Close'

It's not the first time Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer have reunited after a split, but the couple are simply "enjoying their friendship," says a source close to the singer. "They've been talking for a while – they're very friendly."

Adds another source, "They've remained close."

The duo recently spent a night together late last month at New York City's Bowery Hotel. "Jen was there on the arm of John and they were all very lovey," says an onlooker. "She was in casual clothing as was he, and she seemed very comfortable around his crowd of friends."

Ignore the rampant rumors that John Mayer has had a secret on-again, off-again affair with Kristin Cavallari for the last two years – they're all false, the musician said in a series of Twitter posts Wednesday.

"I'm sure she's a wonderful gal but we have never tasted the Skittles Rainbow together," Mayer, no stranger to romance rumors, wrote.

Then, just in case readers didn't get what he was saying, he added: "My Milli has never slam danced with her Vanilli" and "I have never Bensoned her Hedges, nor have I attempted to Bartle her James."

For her part, the new star of The Hills has long said she's single and not looking for a boyfriend.

John Mayer 'Absolutely Not' Reuniting with Jessica Simpson, Says Pal

First, Nick Lachey told PEOPLE there was very little truth to reports he might get back together with his newly single ex-wife, Jessica Simpson.

Now comes bad news for fans hoping Simpson’s ex-boyfriend John Mayer will heal her broken heart.

"Absolutely not," Mayer's pal Rob Dyrdek, 35, star of MTV's Fantasy Factory, told PEOPLE Monday at Ryan Scheckler's X Games Celebrity Skins Classic" in Coto De Caza, Calif.

Mayer and Simpson dated on-and-off for about a year before splitting in 2007. Dyrdek says he "wouldn't rule out" a reunion, but adds, "I'm just saying [I don't think so]."

John Mayer Performs, Fakes Pal's Hospital Trip

A night of hard partying landed John Mayer in the deejay booth and pal Rob Dyrdek in the hospital ... or did it?

The two began the night at Hollywood hot spot My House, where they were seen sharing Corzo tequila shots straight out of the bottle before Mayer launched into an impromptu show.

"The place went nuts!" says a clubgoer of the singer's performance of his hit "Your Body Is a Wonderland" and rendition of TI and Rihanna's "Live Your Life."

But the night ended with the two stumbling out of the club and, according to Mayer's Twitter, to a hospital: "In triage at Cedars with @Robdyrdek. When the contents of his stomach hit that silicon bag and we all saw it, we just broke into applause."

Not to worry, Dyrdek, who was celebrating the release of his fim Street Dreams, didn't really have to get his stomach pumped. "It was fake, they were just having fun and screwing around for publicity," a source tells PEOPLE. The skateboarder/reality star was up and running the next day, Tweeting: "A funny night out with @johncmayer."

The rocker was dining at the sushi hot spot, and headed to the bathroom when the ladies noticed him – and started swooning and screaming. So, he approached their table and started singing. After his performance, Mayer gave the birthday girl a kiss on the cheek!
