Forget back-to-school shopping and all things pumpkin spice, the real reason everyone's excited for fall is because it brings the return of all of our favorite TV shows – and the chance to develop new obsessions.

In the next few months it looks like TV schedules are going to be more packed than ever as tons of new comedies, dramas and even variety shows vie for DVR space. And even though we've only gotten the briefest of teases of what's heading to small screens, there are already a few shows whose premiere dates we've got marked down on our calendars. (Or, in the case of Neil Patrick Harris' variety show, set to record on every device we own.)

But which fall TV show are you giving a shot? Let's take a look at some of the potential contenders …

REVIEW: Lifetime's Unauthorized Full House Story Comes Up Empty

Originally posted 08/22/2015 12:35PM

The Unauthorized Full House Story, Lifetime's second foray into a behind-the-scenes movie franchise about old TV shows, is perfunctory and flavorless. It could be a project dumped on a director and crew imprisoned in a penal colony.

PRISONER: I was hoping maybe, if we had the resources here, to do a reboot of Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. Might that please the Commandant?
GUARD IN CHARGE OF WEEKEND ENTERTAINMENT: You will film the production that the Commandant has greenlighted and no other! The Commandant suggests that you begin immediately to cast the central role of "Bob Saget."

The Unauthorized Full House Story proceeds through the history of the ABC series (1987–95) without much ado and without any scandal. You learn that the show was initially conceived as House of Comics and that those adorable Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, still needed potty breaks at that point in their legendary careers. It also includes this line of dialogue: "Bob Saget is Danny Tanner!"

Happy birthday, Uncle Jesse!

John Stamos turned 52 on Wednesday and rang in the birthday with plenty of happy wishes from his Fuller House costars – and one silly picture he posted himself.

"At 52, proof I put on my undies like everyone else … one leg at a time," he captioned the black-and-white shot, which shows the actor in his underwear, slipping one foot into a pair of pants.

John Stamos Admits He Wanted Olsen Twins Fired from Full House

Have mercy!

In a preview from Lifetime's upcoming Unauthorized Full House Story, John Stamos is shown trying to give Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen the boot from Full House – but was the actor who played the twins' doting on-screen Uncle Jesse really capable of doing such a thing?

"It's sort of true that the Olsen twins cried a lot," Stamos told critics at the Television Critics Association's press tour Thursday in Beverly Hills. "It was very difficult to get the shot. So I [said], 'Get them out ... !' That is actually 100 percent accurate. They brought in a couple of unattractive redheaded kids. We tried that for a while and that didn't work. [Producers] were like, all right, get the Olsen twins back. And that's the story."

Love is in the air at Fox.

John Stamos and Rob Lowe are both starring in new comedies at the network: The Grinder for Lowe and Grandfathered for Stamos. They also are attached to two upcoming shows, with Lowe acting in NBC's You, Me and the End of the World and Stamos bringing back Uncle Jesse's mullet for Netflix's Fuller House. Plus, they're both total heartthrobs.

"As a founding member of Jimmy Kimmel's Handsome Men's Club … I am looking forward to the time John makes it in," Lowe, 51, joked during The Grinder's panel at the Television Critics Association junket in Los Angeles on Thursday. "There is a rumor –"

"Rob, tell the truth, we've dated for years!" Stamos, 51, heckled from the back of the ballroom as the crowd laughed.
