• New parentsKatherine Heigl and Josh Kelley shared a "celebratory" dinner at Vermont Restaurant and Bar in L.A., along with the actress' mom and a friend. "They were all in really good moods," says an onlooker. At the table, Heigl's mom surprised her with a gift – a baby T-shirt – which she giddily accepted. The casually dressed couple sipped on cocktails and "really enjoyed the night," the onlooker says.

Katherine Heigl Breaks Relationship Rules – and It Works!

Katherine Heigl's character learns the not-so-pretty romantic rules of male/female relationships in her new comedy The Ugly Truth, but the actress admits that she's already tested them with husband Josh Kelley.

"I'm not very good at being a wife because I sort of break them all," Heigl laughed while discussing the film with reporters. "So does he, though, so whatever." She admits that, like her character, she set up a lot of rules about what she wanted in a man when she was single.

"I definitely went the whole make-a-list [process]," she said. "I'm definitely a little OCD, I'm particular about how I like things, and how I want things." But she's learned that despite the sometimes dramatic differences between the psyches of men and women, compromise is the key. "You don't have to necessarily completely change who you are to be with someone you want to be with, but you do have to compromise a little bit. You have to let go of a little bit of yourself."

Josh Kelley steps up his stage game when his Emmy-winning wife Katherine Heigl is in the audience.

"I'm always trying to impress my girl," the musician tells PEOPLE at a performance at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles Monday to benefit Green Dot Public Schools. "It doesn't make me nervous, it usually makes me better. It kinda makes me tighten up a little bit, to tell you the truth."

Even though Heigl missed the most recent performance, she still catches her husband's shows when she can. "She used to tour more with me then she does now, [but] she's working some pretty heavy hours."

Katherine Heigl Hears a Love Note at Husband's Concert

• Fresh from her Mexican vacation, Katherine Heigl, cheered on her hubby Josh Kelley front and center during his intimate gig at Hollywood's Hotel Café. The Grey's Anatomy star sat with a girlfriend, and shouted out requests for songs like "Cain and Abel." Meanwhile, Kelley had his own message for his wife from the stage: He substituted her name into some of the songs. Says a fellow concertgoer: "They were totally interactive." Kelley also told the crowd he'd curled his wife's hair for the evening out. "It was so cute," the concertgoer tells us.
