"I had a different experience than most people. I get to watch my weird years in reruns," former Nickelodeon star Josh Peck says in the current issue of PEOPLE.
Peck got his big break in the 2000 movie Snow Day when he was just 12 years old and went on to work on The Amanda Show and Drake & Josh through his teens.
The actor admits feeling "awkward" during that time in his life, but acting gave him "a lot of self-worth and confidence."

If Josh Peck has any regrets, being a child star is not one of them.
"I was just totally in love with coming to work every day," the Grandfathered star says in the current issue of PEOPLE of booking a role in the Nickelodeon film Snow Day at age 12.
After the film was released in 2000, Peck joined the cast of Nickelodeon's The Amanda Show and then, at 17, co-headlined smash-hit sitcom Drake & Josh.
Though he was exposed to Hollywood success at such a young age, Peck credits mother, Barbara, for keeping him grounded.
"My mom doesn't play," says the 28-year-old. "Even now, if I say something remotely fresh, she'll still call me on it."

The girls – who were discovered by a talent manager during a trip to the grocery store – landed their first print ad at 6 months. Now they share the role of Edie, acting alongside John Stamos and Josh Peck in Fox's new comedy Grandfathered.
"The actors are so great in this show that they really bring out the personalities of the girls – when you're watching that's truly Layla and Emelia," mom Nicole, 31, co-owner of an Los Angeles-based consulting firm, says of her little ones with husband Valter, 42, a yacht captain and dock master.

"The show is about a George Clooney kind of guy," Stamos tells PEOPLE the show's rakish protagonist Jimmy. "He's a bachelor who thinks he's got it all, but there is something missing. He finds out he has a son and it takes him aback, but that's not all. It turns out that he's got a daughter, and that makes him a grandfather."
But even if you're having a hard time seeing your '90s TV crush playing a grandfather, Stamos is having a blast in his new role: "I think it's funny and ironic, and that's what makes it different."
