Selena Gomez doesn't need to twerk or be scandalous for her fans to love her.
In a nod to her good girl image, the former Disney Channel star told fans at her sold-out show at the Mohegan Sun Arena Saturday to be true to themselves – just like she is.
"Every day I get told I'm not sexy enough or I'm not cool enough or if I did this or if I did that, I would have people who love me," the 21-year-old singer said. "Look at this room! I don't have to do any of that to have love!"
She also talked about how she appreciates that her young fans and their parents "trust" in her for being squeaky clean.

Miley Cyrus says there's a reason why she's acting the way she is nowadays – it's Hannah Montana's fault.
The 20-year-old who twerked up a storm at the VMAs and got naked in her new "Wrecking Ball" video, says being cast on the Disney show when she was 13 made her grow up in a hurry.
"I was an adult when I was supposed to be a kid," she says in the October issue of Harper's Bazaar. "So now I'm an adult and I'm acting like a kid."

Since her son Justin Bieber's 18th birthday in 2012, Pattie Mallette has had to come to terms that he's a legal adult and allowed to make his own decisions and his own mistakes.
"When your kids hit a certain age your parenting style changes and it is hard letting go," Mallette tells PEOPLE. "His life was my life and now I've had to let him go a little bit and let him be independent. It is hard to not be able to control everything that your adult child does."
Mallette, 37, finds it "difficult" to answer questions about the pop star's recent controversial behavior but continues to support her now 19-year-old son from afar as he travels on his world tour.

Nearly a week after turning 21, Selena Gomez celebrated the milestone Saturday night with plenty of friends – and a surprising familiar face.
Gomez – who shares her July 22 birthday with the newborn Prince George of Cambridge – hosted a gypsy-themed bash at Malibu's Revolve Beach House. On the guest list: Julianne Hough and brother Derek, Nina Dobrev, Ashley Benson, Jaden Smith and celeb stylist Riawna Capri.
"When Selena's song 'Birthday' came on, all of the guests gathered on the dance floor and took shots of chilled VeeV," a source tells PEOPLE. The evening, which was filled with dancing, good friends, and plenty of drinks, got an unexpected visitor around midnight when the Spring Breakers actress's on-again, off-again beau Justin Bieber arrived.
"Justin arrived at the party in his leopard-print Audi R8," a different source says. "He was casually dressed and carried a single rose."

Lady Gaga's Little Monsters have put the singer on top.
The boundary-pushing pop star, 27, beat out Justin Bieber to nab the top spot on Forbes's list of top-earning celebrities under 30, the magazine revealed Monday.
The publication estimates Gaga earned about $80 million between June 2012 and June 2013 – and would have raked in even more money if she hadn't been sidelined by a serious hip injury that forced her to cancel her Born This Way Ball tour in February.
