Few categories at this weekend's Grammy Awards are as simultaneously coveted and mocked as that of "Best New Artist," an honor that's gone both to such best-selling acts as Adele and The Beatles and such curious outliers as Milli Vanilli and The Starland Vocal Band. Every few years, the Grammy goes to a performer all but unknown to the majority of Americans (See: Esperanza Spalding, or – though not a "Best New Artist" pick – 2011 "Album of the Year" winner Arcade Fire.)
So, if you're planning to watch the Grammys this Sunday with any of your ... not-quite-hip relatives, here's a guide for introducing them to 2014's "Best New Artist" hopefuls:

Country music fans know that the CMA Awards are more than an awards show – they're also a great concert!
With performances from the biggest names in country, like Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Kasey Musgraves, Little Big Town, Lady Antebellum and Tim McGraw, just to name a few, the three-hour extravaganza showcased what's currently topping the charts.

The CMAs in Nashville had viewers seeing stars, but unlike in years past, there wasn't one specific standout.
All the regulars – Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Kelly Clarkson, Keith Urban and hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley – were in town for country's biggest night, but some of the genre's heaviest hitters walked away uncharacteristically empty-handed.
Meanwhile, duo Florida Georgia Line, one of the newer acts over the last few years, walked away with two awards: single of the year for "Cruise" and vocal duo of the year.

It's no secret that one of the best parts of the CMA Awards is the killer collaborations the show brings together. And this year promises to be no different.
Zac Brown Band – nominated for Vocal Group of the Year – will be hitting the stage alongside Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl, PEOPLE has learned exclusively. And that's just for starters.
One of the CMT Artists of the Year, Hunter Hayes, will be performing with Jason Mraz, just as the two paired up earlier this summer at CMA Fest. And Taylor Swift, one of this year's top nominees, will be singing with Alison Krauss and country music legend Vince Gill.

For Anna Faris, being named one of PEOPLE's Ones to Watch was doubly exciting – while she was "flattered" to get the honor, the mom of 14-month-old son Jack was just excited to be getting out of the house.
"I have a baby, I don't get to do this very often," the Mom star, 36, told PEOPLE at an event celebrating the honorees at Hinoki & The Bird restaurant in L.A. on Wednesday night.
Admitting she was excited to get inside and enjoy the "amazing food and amazing company" the 36-year-old said "it's surreal" to be named on this year's list alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Rebel Wilson and country music newcomer Kacey Musgraves.
