Kanye West has gotten some bad press lately, but even this was too much for those closest to him.

Contrary to reports that spread online Tuesday, the outspoken rapper is not dead. West instead was the victim a hoax that began on a fraudulent Web site that resembled a Fox News story reporting that he had died in a "bizarre car crash in Los Angeles."

The site has been taken down – but not before West's model-girlfriend Amber Rose responded on her Twitter page, stating that the rumor of his death was "NOT TRUE." The rumor was especially popular on Twitter, and "RIP Kanye West" actually became a trending topic at one point. Wrote Rose: "This 'RIP Kanye West' topic is not funny. He has people like myself and his family that love him very much."

Kanye, Beware: Taylor Swift to Host Saturday Night Live

Originally posted 10/15/2009 07:30AM

Kanye West apparently is not on the invitation list, leaving the stage wide open for Taylor Swift, who will host Saturday Night Live on Nov. 7, NBC has announced.

Swift, who performed on the 35-year-old satirical program in January, will be hosting for the first time, an opportunity she calls "mind-blowing," according to a statement. She adds, "I love being around people who I feel have a different kind of creative genius. And the funny genius is definitely a fascinating one to be around."

Of course, it wasn't so funny on Sept. 13 when West interrupted Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards while she was accepting for best female video. Days later, he officially apologized.

The other woman at the center of the Kanye West Video Music Awards shout-out scandal is finally speaking out.

Beyoncé Knowles, whose loss to Taylor Swift in the Best Female Video category prompted West to storm the stage and steal the microphone from Swift at the Sept. 13 ceremony, says she understands the rapper's motivation.

"Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing up for art; and he told me before, when they said the nominees, he's like, 'You have this award,'" she told O: The Oprah Magazine editor-at-large Gayle King.

Tim McGraw is one ticked-off dad.

The country star took Kanye West to task after the rapper's now infamous diss of country sweetie Taylor Swift on Sunday's VMA Awards, telling CMT Insider the incident upset his daughters Gracie, 12, Maggie, 11, and Audrey, 7.

"He shows himself to be an idiot every time he does stuff like that," said the country star, who also was the subject of Swift's first hit single called "Tim McGraw." "[My girls] were upset. But what he did do is provide a great example of how not to be, and my girls learned a big lesson."

Audio: President Obama Calls Kanye West a 'Jackass'

When, oh when, will the politicians learn to treat every microphone like a live microphone?

50 Cent Wants to Give Kanye West a Black Eye

Originally posted 09/15/2009 02:00PM

The list of celebrities who have a beef with Kanye West grows longer – and more violent. 50 Cent says that if West had taken away his award, he'd be getting a taste of a 50 Cent knuckle sandwich.

"I wish he would come take one of my awards so I could black his eye in front of everybody," he said on MuchOnDemand.

He added, "Even an apology can't replace what it feels like for the very first time receiving that award. In Taylor Swift's head, 'My first award was Kanye West.' It's damaging."

Of course, West and 50 Cent have had trouble between them before: In 2007, the two were engaged in a heated contest over who'd sell more albums, and 50 criticized comments West made about Britney Spears.

A contrite Kanye West helped Jay Leno kick off the TV host's new primetime NBC show on Monday, with the emcee thanking him for not backing out of his commitment to appear – despite the mountain of criticism since he interrupted Taylor Swift's MTV Video Music Awards victory speech.

"Have you had a tough day?" Leno asked West, 32, as the studio audience erupted in laughter. Speaking seriously, West replied, "Yeah, it's been extremely difficult." He admitted to "just dealing with the fact that I hurt someone or took anything away, you know, from a talented artist or from anyone, because I only wanted to help people."

Kanye's Backstage Clash with Taylor Swift's Mom

Minutes after Kanye West stormed the stage as she accepted her Video Music Award, a teary-eyed Taylor Swift pulled herself together to perform her award-winning song, "You Belong With Me," atop a cab parked in front of Radio City Music Hall.

But West only continued the drama by angering the entire Swift family. After Swift's mother, Andrea, asked to speak to the rapper and, a source tells PEOPLE, "tore into him," the rapper continued to maintain that Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" should have won Best Female Video instead and made no formal apology.
