Deadmau5 and Kat Von D Plan an Underwater-Themed Wedding

After Kat Von D and Joel Zimmerman, a.k.a. Deadmau5, became engaged in December, they couldn't wait to start planning their wedding.
On Aug. 10, the couple will marry in an "underwater-themed" ceremony before 200 friends and family in Los Angeles, the tattoo artist tells PEOPLE.
Drawing from their mutual love for H.P. Lovecraft's short story "The Call of Cthulhu," about a character that is half-man, half-octopus, Von D assures PEOPLE that she and the electronic musician's ceremony will be "the furthest thing from traditional."

Electronic music star Deadmau5 took to Twitter to pose this question of girlfriend Kat Von D: "I can't wait for Christmas so ... Katherine Von Drachenberg, will you marry me?"
Deadmau5, whose real name is Joel Thomas Zimmerman, included a photo of a diamond ring with the disclaimer, "Changing the diamond to black diamond FYI. Sorry for the jpg … they'll finish the actual ring soon I hope."
Von D, 30, a tattoo artist and reality TV star, responded on her Twitter page with a string of exclamation points, then told her followers, "Please excuse me while I go squeeze the hell out of my fiancé!"

Demi Lovato has something to Tweet about: her new bird tattoos, courtesy of tattoo artist Kat Von D.
The X Factor judge showed off her ink on Twitter on Monday, a flock of 12 birds that fly up her forearm.
"And another picture of my new birdies," she Tweeted with a photo of the tiny tats that swarm around the word "Faith."

When she started dating Jesse James, Kat Von D was eager to "prove the world wrong" about him.
Now, she says, she deserves "a big fat 'I told you so,' from everyone."
"Today I encountered the 19th girl to add to the list of people Jesse cheated on me with during this last year," the former L.A. Ink star wrote Sunday in a blog post on her Facebook page.
"I kept going back and forth in my mind as to what the best way would be for me to release and let go of any residual feelings remaining from that toxic relationship."
James, 42, had acknowledged to PEOPLE that he had "poor judgment" in response to allegations he was unfaithful during his marriage to Sandra Bullock.

Another month – and another breakup for Jesse James and Kat Von D.
"I am not in a relationship," the tattoo artist said in a post on her Facebook page on Saturday. "And I apologize for all the 'back and forth' if it's caused any confusion."
The couple, who had been planning a summer wedding, called off their engagement in July. A month later, Von D's reality show L.A. Ink was canceled. Despite the setback, she was on a personal high because the engagement was back on.
So what went wrong this time? "It was clear to me that we were just on two different paths in life," Von D tells PEOPLE. "My friend put it best when he said I could never be more deserving of total, noble love. And as a woman, I think it's important to know your value and never lose sight of that."

Kat Von D may no longer have her show, but she's back with her man.
Even as TLC announced the cancellation of LA Ink, Von D and Jesse James – who had called off their engagement last month – posted on Twitter separate photos of themselves locked in embraces.
James went a step further and added the caption, "para siempre" – Spanish for "forever."
In an interview with PEOPLE, James made it official. The engagement is back on, and Von D is once again wearing her ring.

The current season of LA Ink will be the last.
On Thursday, TLC announced that it is canceling Kat Von D's tattoo shop series after four seasons (and a whole lot of real-time Jesse James drama).
"TLC has decided that the current season of LA Ink will be its last," they said in a statement. "The network is proud of what the series has accomplished in its four seasons, following Kat Von D's journey as an artist from Miami to Los Angeles. The series finale will air September 15th at 10 p.m."
Kat Von D herself had a different spin on the news, however.

Kat Von D & Jesse James's Relationship Lives On – But Only on L.A. Ink

There was no happy ending, but Kat Von D will not shy away from replaying her romance with Jesse James on L.A. Ink.
"Kat wants to show that this was a fairy tale and that she was truly in love," the TLC show's executive producer Gil Lopez tells PEOPLE. "Unfortunately, [the split] happened, but there have been no re-edits."
Von D, 29, who Tweeted on Thursday that she feels "weak" about the failed relationship, is seen on the show with James, 42, in happier times.
