Every so often, Bosworth hopped on her BlackBerry before returning to her conversation.

At a party for designer Zac Posen in New York City on Sept. 14, the scene was fashion meets young Hollywood. There was Kate Bosworth looking whisper-thin in a black dress, dancing to Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack" and smoking cigarettes. There was the always minuscule Mary-Kate Olsen, who stopped by just long enough to puff a cigarette and pose for a few photos. At the center was Posen, 25, a current red-carpet favorite who has dressed a range of young actresses, from the plus-size Marissa Jaret Winokur to the sub-zero Bosworth. "I like women's bodies – I emphasize them in my clothing," Posen told PEOPLE on Sept. 21. "Healthy women are much sexier."

It may be time for professional swashbuckler Orlando Bloom to hang up his sword. When we caught up with the Pirates of the Caribbean star in London at a VIP performance of Cirque du Soleil: Alegria, he told us that if he had to star in a circus act, he'd skip the daring high wire for a barrel full of laughs – as a clown. "I would no way be able to do the acrobatics," Bloom says.

Are they or aren't they? That's the question on our minds about Kate Bosworth and Orlando Bloom. The former couple, who in January announced their split after two years together, are still keeping close company. Bosworth's stylist, Jessica Paster, recently threw a going-away party for the actress, who's heading to Australia for six months to film her role as Lois Lane in the big-screen remake of Superman. Among the 15 or so guests at the intimate soiree at the Chateau Marmont hotel in West Hollywood was – you guessed it – Bloom.

Kate Bosworth: Superman's Lois Lane

CAST: Kate Bosworth has apparently won the role of Lois Lane in Bryan Singer's new Superman movie over such other contenders as Claire Danes, Linda Cardellini and Michelle Monaghan, says the Hollywood Reporter. Bosworth will costar opposite Brandon Routh, who was already named the new Man of Steel. The villain of the piece, Lex Luthor, is to be Kevin Spacey, who currently stars with Bosworth in his film bio of '60s singer Bobby Darin, Beyond the Sea. Long in the works, the Superman movie is finally set to start flying before the cameras in March. … That same month, in Florida, John Travolta and James Gandolfini will start filming Lonely Hearts, based on the true story of detectives who captured a couple known as the "Lonely Hearts Killers," who found their victims through newspaper personal ads, Variety reports.
