When Katherine Heigl and husband Josh Kelley adopted 10-month-old Naleigh from Korea in 2009, the new mom expected the mother-daughter bond to be strong and immediate.
Not so, the actress admits in an interview with German weekly newspaper, Bild am Sonntag. "People are always talking about the strong bond between mother and daughter, this magical connection – but we didn't have that," Heigl says.
She described the early days with Naleigh as "the hardest time in my life. ... I fought incredibly hard for my daughter to accept me as mother. Her rejection almost broke my heart."

For Katherine Heigl, the decision to add a pair of shepherd mix puppies to her brood in October was an easy one.
"I always want animals in my life," she tells USA Weekend magazine, describing herself as a "mad dog lady."
The duo, named Flora and Tamber, joined an already-crowded household, also home to miniature schnauzers Romeo and Stella, mix-breed Piper, schnoodle Wheezer, and Scar, the "hotcake" hound. But the newest additions proved to have a bigger impact on Heigl's husband, Josh Kelley, than the actress herself.

Katherine Heigl: I Would Kill My Husband If He Cheated on Me
Originally posted 12/08/2011 06:00PM
Katherine Heigl says she and husband Josh Kelley have always had a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to cheating. But now, she admits, she's not so sure.
"I've been debating this lately," the actress, 33, tells the January issue of British Cosmopolitan. "Josh and I always said that cheating would be a deal breaker; there is no second chance. But I've seen friends and acquaintances go through it and they've found a way back to the relationship, and a way to forgive each other."
Not that she's giving her husband of four years, and the father of her 3-year-old daughter Naleigh, a hall pass or anything. But perhaps a fling wouldn't automatically mean an end to their marriage.
