In honor of the 50th anniversary of Days of Our Lives, Kathie Lee Gifford unearthed a piece of her past she'd really rather forget.
As it turns out, the TV personality has a storied history with the soap opera. While trying to break into Hollywood, Gifford, 62, worked as an "atmosphere" extra on the show before being promoted to a "dismembered body voice," actress with under five lines and, eventually, "the most minor character ever," she revealed Tuesday on the Today show.
"Her name is Nurse Callahan," co-host Hoda Kotb said to introduce a vintage clip of KLG in action. "We have not seen this video. This is gonna be fun."

One month after her father Frank Gifford died at age 84, Cassidy Gifford has paid a touching tribute to honor him.
The 22-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday to post a sweet throwback photo of her and her dad smiling at each other.
"Mr. Poe, you said it right….'Never to suffer would have never to been blessed,' " she wrote, keeping the caption to the picture short and sweet and quoting Edgar Allen Poe.

Despite being back to work on Today, the terrible memory of finding her husband Frank Gifford dead in their home on Aug. 9 is still very fresh in Kathie Lee Gifford's mind.
She opened up about those shocking moments on Friday morning's show, with the help of longtime friend and former Live! co-host Regis Philbin.
"You know what I hadn't told people?" Gifford said early in the show. "He had just gotten the best medical report he'd had in eight years on Friday. He was doing great."

He may have been a legendary New York Giants player and an Emmy-winning sports broadcaster, but to his kids, Frank Gifford was simply dad.
Cody and Cassidy Gifford, the youngest of his five children, opened up to PEOPLE exclusively in this week's issue about the love and the loss they are feeling alongside their Kathie Lee Gifford following their dad's sudden death on August 9.
"For 22 years I was blessed with an incredible man to not just call my father, but also my friend," Cassidy, 22, tells PEOPLE. "So though I selfishly may want 22 more, my gratitude far outweighs my sadness."

It was a night like so many others.
On Saturday, Aug. 1, Regis Philbin and wife Joy visited close pals Kathie Lee and Frank Gifford at their Greenwich, Connecticut, home to enjoy dinner and drinks under the stars in their lush backyard.
"There Frank was, handsome as ever," Philbin tells PEOPLE exclusively in this week's issue. As his former Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee co-host offered up her signature candid stories – "She was, of course, a riot" – her husband, the dashing former New York Giants star and Emmy-winning sports broadcaster, "was smiling and laughing," says Philbin.
That night, says Philbin, Frank "looked so good, so strong and healthy." But just eight days later, Philbin learned that his dear friend had suddenly collapsed at home and died at age 84. "I just couldn't believe it," he says. "Nobody could."
