VIDEO: Kathy Griffin Skewers Celeb Memoirs
Originally posted 09/09/2009 09:30AM
Kathy Griffin just published her memoir Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin – but apparently the literary bug is still biting!
During a recent visit to PEOPLE.com, the comedian shared how she prepared for her dishy first book – she read
lots of other celebrity autobiographies, it turns out – and offered some advice for stars who haven't quite devised the perfect titles for their own memoirs. Watch as Griffin recommends (humorous) titles for the tomes
stars like the Jonas Brothers, Jon & Kate Gosselin and Lindsay Lohan have yet to write.
Then check back with PEOPLE TV on Sept. 18 for more from Griffin about writing her first book – including her mother's review!

With a borrowed hairstyle and bikini-ready body, comedienne Kathy Griffin was a dead ringer for the famous mom of multiples at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood while taping an upcoming skit for Jimmy Kimmel Live.
"She was walking around the hotel and people actually thought she was Kate," says an observer.
Who played Jon in the skit (set to air next week)? Original Star Trek fleet member George Takei.

Kathy Griffin: Plastic Surgery and Diet Pill Confessions

Sure, she may have the confidence to strut around in a bikini now, but for years Kathy Griffin struggled with low self-esteem.
"What I can't figure out is why I wasted time worrying about my looks. I am a comedian. I'm not on the runway in Milan," says Griffin, whose memoir, Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin, hits stores in September. "Believe it or not, people don't come to see me really thinking I'm going to look like Jennifer Aniston."

Joan Rivers Responds to Roastmaster Kathy Griffin: Drop Dead!
Originally posted 08/03/2009 03:15PM
Joan Rivers may have built her career around her sense of humor, but the comedian has some choice words for good pal Kathy Griffin, who emceed her upcoming Comedy Central roast.
"She can [expletive] drop dead now, I'm so angry," Rivers tells PEOPLE, laughing. "She was evil. We made a pact. No matter what we say on camera ... we stay friends forever. And she really lets me have it."
When it comes to the show – which airs Aug. 9 at 10 p.m. ET – Rivers promises plenty of sharp words and big laughs.
"I was in shock at what they said," she says. "They called me evil, mean and [a] plastic surgery whore and disgusting. I kept saying to myself, 'How do they know so much about me?' "

Kathy Griffin Will Do Whatever It Takes to Win

Democracy, you have met your match in Kathy Griffin.
When the 48-year-old comedian and star of Bravo's My Life on the D-Listfound herself an unlikely contestant in a bikini poll on PEOPLE.com, she decided that she wasn't going to leave the results up to chance.
"I voted for myself obsessively – I mean many hundreds of times," Griffin tells PEOPLE. "Then I called my mother and had her vote, and then I had the staff drop all other work so they could do nothing but vote for me."
Adds Grffin, who beat out Lisa Rinna, 45 and Tara Reid, 33, in the bikini showdown, "I defy you, masters of PEOPLE.com, to have a contest that I am not going to win."

Ellen DeGeneres, Portia De Rossi GLAAD to Be in Love
Originally posted 04/19/2009 11:10AM
With Emmys galore already to her name, Ellen DeGeneres can now add another trophy to her shelf – this one relevant to her personal life.
"Love comes in lots of different forms," said DeGeneres, 51, with her wife, Portia de Rossi, 36, standing beside her as the crowd cheered at Saturday's 20th annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles. "I am flabbergasted by the fact that we're still trying to fight," she added. "I am not trying to fight for gay rights – I am trying to fight for equal rights."
The TV host's award from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation League, at the Nokia Theater, was for the 2008 episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on which Ellen discussed her wedding day. Speaking onstage, DeGeneres said, "Portia, I love you."

Kathy Griffin, Cynthia Nixon Win Creative Arts Emmys
Originally posted 09/13/2008 11:05PM
Kathy Griffin might need to consider adding another member to her staff just to carry around her Emmy awards.
The comedian won her second Emmy on Saturday, picking up the trophy for best reality program for her Bravo hit My Life On the D-List. And, true to form, she delivered another memorable – and bleepable – acceptance speech.
"Well, well, well! Here we go again, f-----ers," Griffin said, gamely accepting the award at the Creative Arts Emmys held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
"I'm not going to tell anyone to suck it," she said, referencing her speech from 2007 in which she infamously told Jesus to "suck it." "I would make love to this thing if I could."

Kathy Griffin Says No to More Plastic Surgery

If there's one joke you shouldn't expect to hear from Kathy Griffin from now on, it's the one about her getting new plastic surgery. The funnywoman says she's done with it.
"[Plastic surgery] didn't help me one bit," she says in the latest issue of Fitness. "It didn't get me happier or didn't make me look particularly younger, it didn't help me get jobs.
"What I realize now is ... no one expected me to come out in a bikini anyway."

It was deja vu all over again as Ugly Betty and Brothers & Sisters once more took top honors at Saturday's 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.
Kathy Griffin, whose My Life on the D-List was named outstanding reality show, opened the ceremony with a little help from her mom, Maggie Griffin, who joined her daughter on-stage – and drew big laughs.
"Mom, who's the gayest-looking person in the room tonight?" Griffin asked.
