Keith Urban Spills About Dealing with Eager Fans

Keith Urban has two secret weapons when it comes to handling overeager female fans at his shows – his guitar and his speediness.

Asked by Canada's The London Free Press whether he's ever been fondled by fans during his concerts, Urban – who performs amid the audience during part of his show – says, "Nothing like that. That's the good thing about having a guitar in front of you." Plus, he adds, "we're moving at a pretty good clip."

Still, the country star admits, "It can get a little hairy sometimes. I've had a few injuries, but hey, it's rock 'n' roll."

While on the Canadian leg of his Escape Together tour, wife Nicole Kidman might just have Urban's back. "They've been out a couple of times," he told the paper of Kidman and their 1-year-old daughter Sunday Rose.

He was already this year's top Country Music Association nominee with six nods, but you can add one more to Brad Paisley's tally.

Paisley and Keith Urban were "inadvertently omitted" Wednesday from the list of nominees for Musical Event of the Year for their duet "Start A Band," the CMA now says. The addition bumps Urban's nomination count to five and Paisley's to a leading seven.

"We take the integrity of the CMA Awards balloting very seriously," says Tammy Genovese, CMA Chief Executive Officer. "When an oversight like this occurs we commit ourselves to a thorough review, thoughtful and immediate correction, and complete disclosure and accountability to the artists and our industry."

They say there's no place like home, so it's no surprise that Nicole Kidman brought husband Keith Urban and their 9-month-old daughter Sunday Rose to her native Australia for Easter weekend.

The family touched down at Sydney's Kingsford Smith airport early Good Friday morning, posing briefly for paparazzi who had camped out amidst rumors the couple were headed down under from their adopted hometown of Nashville.

The trio is believed to be heading to the couple's $6.5 million mansion, Bunya Hill, in the small rural town of Sutton Forest, NSW, which was purchased last July, for some Easter weekend down-time. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the old-fashioned homestead on 110 acres of cattle property has undergone multimillion-dollar renovations, reportedly including a 20-yard swimming pool, tennis court and a new gymnasium.

While recent photos of Nicole Kidman placing her hands over her midsection had fans wondering if she was hiding a pregnancy bump, her husband Keith Urban has set the record straight.

Asked in an interview for CMT Insider whether he wanted to make any baby announcements, he joked, "I'm not pregnant, no, definitely not. Clear that one up right now. I haven't had any check-ups recently but … it's just going out on a limb here."

Urban, whose new album, Defying Gravity, will be released March 31, also called fatherhood "excellent" and, responding to a viewer question, clarified that the baby in his "Sweet Thing" video is not his 8-month-old daughter, Sunday Rose.

The full interview with Urban will air Saturday March 14 on CMT Insider at 1.30 p.m. EST. – Eileen Finan
