Only a few years ago, reigning CMA female vocalist of the year Miranda Lambert was opening for Keith Urban.
Both stars now headline their own tours, but the two pair back up on Urban's latest single, "We Were Us," debuting Friday at 7:30 p.m. on his Facebook page, followed by a chat with the musician.
"Getting to work with Keith in the studio was awesome," Lambert, 30, says. "He's been someone that's inspired me along the way."

It's a lazy Sunday for most of Springfield, Mo., but not for Keith Urban. Having just bused in from his show in Oklahoma City the night before, the singer is trying to work in both a photo session and his second video shoot in two days before heading to tonight's show, the 30th stop on his 58-city Light the Fuse tour.
Later in the week, he's due back in L.A. to continue taping his second season of American Idol, all while promoting his latest album, Fuse.
Still, Urban, 46, can't help but notice the bright blue October sky and the sunlight spilling across the trees outside. He pauses to share the moment with his wife of seven years, Nicole Kidman, back home in Nashville.

Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise spent most of their decade-long marriage in the center of the celebrity spotlight.
Now, 12 years after their split, Kidman, 46, says she's relieved that much of that attention has dimmed – even if she looks back on that period with a hint of wistful fondness.
"There is something about that sort of existence that, if you really focus on each other and you're in that bubble, it's very intoxicating, because it's just the two of you," she tells December's Vanity Fair. "And there is only one other person that's going through it. So it brings you very close, and it's deeply romantic."
She says few people are part of that exclusive club.

It's not easy to keep the romance alive when you're miles apart, but Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman work hard at making their relationship strong despite their hectic schedules.
The country star and American Idol judge, appearing on Monday's The Ellen DeGeneres Show, happily reveals just how he and his wife of seven years stay in touch.
"We just make it work," says Urban, 45, who is currently juggling touring with his Idol duties, while Kidman, 46, is shooting a movie in London. (The couple's two kids, Sunday, 5, and Faith, 2, are in the U.K. with Kidman.)
"We never text, we never email," he says. "Phone calls only, which I really love that."
He then owns up to DeGeneres that he and Kidman occasionally send other messages.

Her dad's a country superstar and her mom's sung in movie musicals like Moulin Rouge, so it's no surprise that Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman's oldest daughter, Sunday Rose, 5, is a fan of good music.
"Sometimes I'll just hear Sunny singing 'Kiss a Girl,'" Urban, 45, says of his 2009 hit. "It's just infectiously catchy pop and I have a side of me that loves that stuff."

A slew of artists rocked Sin City for the iHeartRadio Musical Festival, the star-studded bonanza held Sept. 20-21 that pulled together an eclectic mix of top hitmakers and their celebs admirers.
In what essentially amounted to a mega musical mashup, a bevy of chart-topping mainstays, including Elton John, Chris Brown, Robin Thicke, Katy Perry and fun., hit the stage at the MGM Grand – that is, when they weren't schmoozing with one another in between sets.
The shindig also featured Miley Cyrus's first performance since calling off her engagement to Liam Hemsworth.

Jennifer Lopez is happy to be back in her seat on American Idol's judges' panel.
"I love this show and I'm glad to be back," the singer and actress said Wednesday at a press conference in Boston, where she appeared alongside her co-judges, newbie Harry Connick Jr. and veteran Keith Urban, for their first stop of season 13.
"Last year I went off and toured the whole world for the first time," Lopez, 44, added. "It wasn't the easiest thing to fit in this season of Idol, but I do love it so much ... I did miss it."

Jenny's back on the block at American Idol and she'll have a new neighbor.
"It was so hard for me to leave the first time," says Jennifer Lopez of her return as a judge, adding it also won't be easy coming back because of her busy schedule.
"To be honest right now is the worst time for me to stop and do Idol," she tells the show's host, Ryan Seacrest, on his radio show Tuesday. "I’m doing two movies and I have my album coming out, but I’m doing it because I want to. I love it."
