Kelly Rowland's New Destiny: Writing a Children's Book

Originally posted 05/17/2008 06:00PM

Kelly Rowland is working on a new project that has nothing to do with singing: writing a children's book.

"I'm getting into different ventures. I'm in the process of writing a children's book," the Destiny's Child singer told PEOPLE backstage after performing at the VIP room in Cannes Friday night.

The untitled book is still in the early stages. "Everything is confidential right now, but I'm really excited because I've talked to some different publishing companies and got some people interested," she added.

Rowland says her five godchildren are the reason she's decided to write in between working on her new record. "I love my god-kids," she says. "I love kids!"

Kelly Rowland & Michelle Williams Coy About N.Y.C. Stay

Originally posted 04/04/2008 10:15AM

In a new YouTube video posted late Thursday night, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams goof around at a hotel in Manhattan. But if the singers are in town for Beyonce's rumored wedding, they're not saying.

"We're ... out of town," jokes Rowland, to which Williams chimes in, "At an undisclosed location," before Rowland admits that they're at the Four Seasons in New York – just a cab ride away from Scarsdale, where Beyoncé and Jay-Z got a marriage license on Tuesday.

Fresh off a plane from London, Rowland talks about performing at the Choice FM 18th Anniversary Party along with Mariah Carey and Ciara, and giggles while getting chased around the suite by Williams, who was in NYC for a listening session for her new album, Unexpected. "This is what happens when sisters get together!" says Rowland.

So where's Beyoncé? "B's in the studio tonight," says Rowland, adding that she's headed to Denver this weekend "to go see some friends" before heading to New Orleans for a show.

Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland may have postponed her March wedding to Dallas Cowboy Roy Williams, but he seems to be out of neither sight nor mind. After Kelly, Beyonce and Michelle Williams took in a Miami Heat basketball game one recent evening, they headed over to Nobu with Roy for a spot of sushi. At the end of the evening, Kelly and Roy took off in one car, while Beyonce and Michelle left in another. Destiny's Child's song "Lose Your Breath" will vie for a Grammy (for best R&B performance by a duo or group) on Feb. 13.
