"I tell you what we won't be doing on tour – love ballad duets!" Chesney, 44, tells PEOPLE Country's July issue. "That time of night, in a football stadium, they want it loud and fast. That's what we'll give them."
The friends and touring buddies also give country fans tons of insight into their 21-year friendship in the new issue, including what Chesney thinks of McGraw's wife, Faith Hill, what their moms have in common, and what they've enjoyed doing together over the years.

How do country's biggest stars prep for the CMT Artists of the Year show? With some southern-style cooking, of course!
This year's crop of honorees – Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum and Jason Aldean – all chowed down on a feast prepared by Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard prior to the show, which airs Tuesday (9 p.m. ET on CMT).
"For the dinner, I wanted to show my style of cooking but have influence from the artists and Nashville," Izard told PEOPLE of the three-course meal, complete with wine pairings. (See the full menu below.)
Using notes from each musician, the Top Chef winner created a meal tailor-made for the stars.
"Taylor Swift loves sausage and gravy from Cracker Barrel, so we did mini biscuits with goat and pork gravy," Izard, who owns the Chicago restaurant the Girl & the Goat, said. (She also personally met Swift because, Izard explains, "All of the young guys that work for me would have been disappointed had I not!")

Lionel Richie is connecting with his country side.
The singer, who's got an upcoming country duets album called Tuskegee, will show off his chops live on the CMA Awards Nov. 9 (8 p.m. ET), performing with Rascal Flatts, Darius Rucker and Little Big Town
"Over a period of time, I realized that the songs that I was writing translated to country," Richie, 62, said in a press release. "As a songwriter, I didn't really start out thinking I was country; I was thinking I was R&B."
"It was just a natural progression," he added. "I am from Tuskegee, Alabama; I am a country boy. It just felt right to do this."

"Everyone says the first month is the hardest, or the fourth month or the eighth month," the 28-year-old, who wed NHL player Mike Fisher last year, told PEOPLE. "We're just enjoying it."
The country songstress's career has been "go, go, go," she said, adding: "You never really get to stop and smell the roses and really enjoy just being a person."
