From Brooklyn to the Beltway, Lena Dunham is headed to Scandal!
PEOPLE has confirmed that the Girls creator and star, 28, will make an appearance on the Washington, D.C., drama this March, as first reported by EW.com.
Details are scant, but some connection with Olivia Pope & Associates is likely for Dunham's character – not entirely surprising since everyone from Washington, D.C., to Zanzibar has a connection to the cabal of fixers.

Washington's best white hat wearer finally got a white knight to save her – but who?
Fitz (Tony Goldwyn)? Jake (Scott Foley)? Her gladiators: Huck (Guillermo Díaz), Abby (Darby Stanchfield) and Quinn (Katie Lowes)? A returned Papa Pope (Joe Morton)? Or even a resurrected Harrison (Columbus Short)?
Nope. In an unexpected but truly lovely twist, Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) was rescued by Stephen (Henry Ian Cusick), who departed Scandal after season 1, apparently falling in with some resourceful Russian mobsters.

And you think eBay is stressful.
Thursday night's episode of Scandal saw the nail-biting – and blood-splattering, but we'll get to that later – online bidding war over Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington).
Basically every terrorist ever wanted a piece of Pope, who's now publicly proven to be President Fitz's (Tony Goldwyn) weakness – and thus, the United States of America's.

Think the vice president has no real power? Not in Shondaland.
On Thursday's episode of Scandal, VP Andrew Nichols (Jon Tenney) was revealed to be the evil mastermind behind Olivia's (Kerry Washington) kidnapping, and he quietly took over the White House in a coup that reduced President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) to his puppet.
Most Scandalous Moments Well, that was fast! Just one episode after Liv was snatched, Andrew came forward as her kidnapper, demanding that Fitz declare war on West Angola – or else, Liv would die in 48 hours. Naturally, this was why he and Elizabeth (Portia de Rossi) had her followed this whole season: to advance the Republican agenda. Stay classy.

For Olivia Pope's kidnapper on Scandal, international conflict comes pretty cheap: $1.
That's how much Ian (Jason Butler Harner) bets Liv (Kerry Washington) when she flatly tells him the plan to force President "Fitz" Grant's hand is a nonstarter: "It's not going to work, using me as bait. He won't do it. He won't go to war. The President doesn't negotiate with terrorists."
Of course, Liv was singing a different song to Ian last week when she thought he was a fellow hostage.

Murder and torture are mainstays on Scandal. But it's still the kind of steamy drama you watch curled up on your couch with a glass of red wine in one hand and your phone teed up with sassy tweets about Scott Foley's abs in the other.
Not this week. From the How to Get Away with Murder-like time jumps (we see you, Shonda) to the Homeland-style setting, this wasn't the Scandal we've grown to love. It was something new, something darker and far more sinister than Pope & Associates has ever tried to fix.
Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), the woman who wears the white hat and leads her gladiators into battle – arguably one of the most powerful people in Washington – lost control.

Scandal may not last that much longer on ABC, but that doesn't mean the characters have to go away, too.
Creator Shonda Rhimes – who has reportedly said her Kerry Washington drama, unlike Grey's Anatomy, won't last 10 or even 8 seasons – can imagine a drama revolving around B613.
