"Hey, Hillz! Nice meeting you. Lemme write you a song when you run for president!"

That's basically how Katy Perry followed up her meeting with Hillary Clinton at a book signing last Friday. And Clinton seemed down with it, oddly enough.

Miranda Lambert's Girls Night Out – Derby Style

Originally posted 05/04/2013 12:45PM

Country gal Miranda Lambert got into the Kentucky Derby spirit Friday night – with a little help from her girlfriends.

"The House That Built Me" singer, 29, danced, drank, pumped her fists in the air and eventually performed at the annual black-tie Barnstable Brown Gala event, hosted by Grey Goose, held at a mansion near Churchill Downs on Derby Eve.

The Texas native and animal lover was dressed like a southern belle – complete with a peach fascinator perched on her head – hung out at a table flanked by four girlfriends and looked like she was having a blast during the other performances.

She rocked out when fellow country star Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry took the stage, pumping her fists in the air when he performed the "My Town." Later, she swayed back and forth and sang along to "My Girl" during Smokey Robinson's performance. (Hubby Blake Shelton was nowhere to be seen, but perhaps he was prepping for The Voice live shows that kick off Monday.)

Kid Rock might consider changing his name to Kid Country: The singer is set to make his third appearance on a nationally-broadcast Nashville awards program this year.

Rock is among the first guests announced exclusively to PEOPLE for the inaugural CMT Artists of the Year. The singer, who hosted the CMT Awards in June and performed "Born Free" on the CMA Awards in November, will present one of the trophies to the 2010 Artist of the Year winners: Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood and Zac Brown Band.

Kid Rock Keeps Things (Mostly) PG at the CMT Music Awards

Kid Rock had promised to be well behaved as host of Wednesday night's CMT Music Awards. And he was – mostly.

The singer-songwriter and rapper, 39, had to be bleeped while performing his opening song, and was seen doing shots in the bar backstage during the telecast. But in his opening remarks, he actually warned everyone else about their behavior.

"Just to be forewarned, if there's any Kanye West-isms going on ... anyone thinking of grabbing the mic, myself or Bocephus will personally punch you in the mouth, all right?" he said. "Maybe I'll get Trace Adkins on you, too, then you'll really be kind of messed up."

Among his other notable lines from the evening:

Don't expect too much trouble or many bleep-worthy moments at this year's CMT Music Awards. Host Kid Rock says he's going to keep the Wednesday show family-friendly.

"I've always been pretty well behaved, really, when I'm on duty," the rocker, who promised fans the show would be awesome, tells PEOPLE. He acknowledges he has earned a certain reputation for rowdiness, but says authorities and award show producers shouldn't be on high alert.

"I joked that the censors are going to be like Family Feud – hands are going to be on the buzzers all night," says the 39-year-old singer. "There have been moments [before], but those have usually involved too much alcohol."

Calling all cowboys and cowgirls!

You don't have to be in Nashville Wednesday night to get a taste of the CMT Music Awards. As country stars like Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban mix and mingle at the annual awards show, you can shake up these cocktails – one features no alcohol – at your home viewing party. Charles Phillips, the executive chef at Nashville's Hutton Hotel, has created them especially for this year's official CMT afterparty.

Think the evening's host Kid Rock will be swilling these later tonight?

Kid Rock to Host 2010 CMT Music Awards

Someone alert the authorities: Kid Rock's been given the keys to the CMT Music Awards.

"The rumors are true – I’m hosting the CMT Awards live from Nashville on June 9th," the singer announced on his Web site Thursday. "All I can promise is I will be awesome."

The Detroit-based rocker may seem to be an unusual choice for the fan-voted country music award show, but Kid Rock has made Nashville a second home. He's close pals with several country artists including Hank Williams Jr. and his daughter Holly Williams, and in 2005, he married Pamela Anderson at a Nashville honky tonk; it was one of a trio of celebrations before their short-lived marriage ended.
