Fans of the Real Housewives franchise were shocked and concerned when Kim Zolciak-Biermann was hospitalized in late September after having a mini stroke.
Though the scare forced the Atlanta-based mother of six out of the competition on Dancing with the Stars, Zolciak-Biermann has been making a full recovery in recent weeks.
Of course, Zolciak-Biermann is far from the first Housewife to endure a difficult health crisis or face down a terrifying diagnosis.
In the years since the franchise first began, fans have watched and supported their favorite stars through their battles with chronic illness and scary hospital stays. And in many instances, the wives themselves have stuck by one another through all manner of horrific health struggles.

PEOPLE caught up with Leakes while she celebrated the Barefoot Wine Bear Garten Pride Celebration event in Atlanta on Thursday, and the reality star touched on her former Real Housewives of Atlanta costar Kim Zolciak-Biermann's recent Dancing with the Stars gig, which ended when she was eliminated after suffering from a mini stroke.

Kim Zolciak-Biermann is disclosing new details about her heart condition.
After revealing on Good Morning America on Thursday that she has a patent foramen ovale, a "hole in her heart that never closed," the reality star explained the condition and her treatment plans in an interview with E!

The Don't Be Tardy star told Good Morning America host Michael Strahan on Thursday that the stroke – for which she was hospitalized – revealed a more serious health condition.
"The minor TIA [transient ischemic attack] revealed that I have a PFO [patent foramen ovale], a hole in my heart that never closed," Zolciak-Biermann said.

The reality personality isn't returning to Dancing with the Stars until the November finale, she announced Monday.
Zolciak-Biermann, 37, reposted a photo from contestant Paula Deen holding a sign for her old parking space in the ABC lot.

"I always love somebody who doesn't give up, okay. I think that that's a wonderful spirit to have. You should never give up. The reality personality launched an online petition to be allowed back on the competition Tuesday with a goal of 10,000 signatures, and on Wednesday morning, more than 19,000 people had signed.
ABC gave Zolciak-Biermann, 37, the boot during Monday's episode because she could not fly back to Los Angeles for the broadcast after suffering a "mini stroke" home in Atlanta last week.

Tony Dovolani has Kim Zolciak-Biermann's back.
Dovolani came to his Dancing with the Stars partner's defense after Wendy Williams questioned Zolciak-Biermann's mini stroke, which left her hospitalized last week.
"I don't really know what happened between them … but I can tell you this: I was at the hospital," Dovolani, 42, told reporters at the DWTS live show on Monday. "I know what happened. It was definitely not fake."
