Because The Twilight Saga: New Moon is probably the most highly anticipated movie of the year, fervent fans – whether on Team Edward or Team Jacob – are practically salivating at the prospect of seeing their favorite heartthrobs on the big screen once the movie opens Friday.

Jacob Black's Body: Photos of Taylor Lautner's amazing transformation from a scrawny kid to a rippling teen werewolf already have been making the rounds for months. But the first time Lautner rips off his T-shirt to reveal his muscled chest onscreen, the sight is still gasp-worthy. In fact, Lautner sizzles and smolders throughout New Moon as he walks the line between friendship and romance with Bella (Kristen Stewart). Though Bella's heart belongs to Edward (Robert Pattinson), Launter may steal Pattinson's heartthrob status right out from under his pale nose.

Taylor and Kristen: BFFs Onscreen and Off

In The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart's characters are best friends – and almost more.

In real life, the two costars are as close as their onscreen counterparts. "We have a similar relationship to Jacob and Bella's," Lautner, 17, said Thursday at the Cinema Society and D&G screening in New York City. "We were very open and honest with each other. So it definitely made [filming] a lot easier."

So what does Lauter, who has been romantically linked to country star Taylor Swift, look for in a woman? "It's pretty simple," says the heartthrob. "Somebody who can be themselves and not put on a show."

Couples Flock to New Moon After Party

New Moon may be about a love triangle, but it was couples night at the party after the film's Los Angeles premiere Monday night.

Following the screening of Twilight's much-anticipated sequel, costars and fans headed to L.A.'s Hammer Museum.

Jennifer Love Hewitt and boyfriend Jamie Kennedy attended the party, which had an Italian theme as a nod to the New Moon Volturi scenes set in Volterra, Italy. "They were holding hands and walking around, they kept to themselves for the most part," says a fellow partygoer. "They looked like they were having a good time."

Another set of costars who seemed happy to be hanging out? Glee cast members Lea Michele and Mark Salling. "They were whispering, giggling, and talking closely to each other," says the source. "They looked like they were flirting!" (For the record, Michele's rep says the costars are not a couple.)

Kristen Stewart Wants Bella to Be a Vampire

Never mind the rampant rumors that Kristen Stewart is dating vampiric costar Robert Pattinson – when it comes to what she wants for her human character in the Twilight saga, the actress is firmly in the Taylor Lautner-Team Jake camp.

"If I was friends with Bella I'd be like, 'Please make life easier and date Jacob,' " she said at a New Moon fan event in London Wednesday – where 2,000 admirers screamed.

But as for Bella herself? "I'd make her a vampire," Stewart, 19, said.
