Ignore the rampant rumorsRobert Pattinson and New Moon costar Kristen Stewart aren't carrying on a torrid affair, he says.

"It doesn't make any difference what you say [to the tabloids]," the actor, 23, tells Vanity Fair. "I've literally been across the country [from Kristen], and it's like 'Oh, they were on secret dates!' It's like "Where? I can't get out of my hotel room!' "

But Pattinson, who's claimed repeatedly that he can't get real dates despite his fame, admits that his 19-year-old costar inspires him.

Bella Swan may have given her heart to Edward Cullen, but it seems Twilight fans would've picked Jacob Black!

In AOL's Just So You Know Awards – an online poll in which the site's tween and teen readers voted for their favorite stars – New Moon's resident werewolf, Taylor Lautner, beat out immortal vampire Robert Pattinson by nabbing 56 percent of the votes in the categories of favorite male movie star and cool guy you'd like to hang out with.

The Twilight Saga's leading lady, Kristen Stewart, also proved a fan favorite, besting Harry Potter's Emma Watson and Transformers star Megan Fox to be named favorite female movie star.

VIDEO: Bella Gets Her Birthday Kiss!

Originally posted 10/28/2009 12:30PM

Should a kiss be so painful?

In the latest clip released for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, birthday girl Bella (Kristen Stewart) agonizingly asks her vampire love Edward (Robert Pattinson) for one thing: a kiss.

While the smooch is one of the longer ones revealed from the sequel, it's painfully awkward because the couple just left the Cullen home – where Edward fought off his brother Jasper, who thirsted for Bella's blood after she gave herself a paper cut while unwrapping her birthday present.

As director Chris Weitz recently said, he's tried his best to "produce more tears than any movie before" with New Moon, which opens Nov. 20.

With New Moon ready to rise in theaters Nov. 20, director Chris Weitz wants it known: He is going to try to make you cry.

"We've tried our best to deliver on the romantic scenes in the film, and I would like to be able to produce more tears than any movie before, if possible," Weitz told PEOPLE at the Hollywood Film Festival's Hollywood Awards Monday of capturing moments in the Twilight saga's love triangle. "If we could only weigh them with some kind of cubic tear measure!"

Weitz, who took over the directing reigns from Catherine Hardwicke, admits delivering the passion, thrills and heartache in the hotly anticipated sequel wasn't easily done.

"I've handled it very badly, because I'm extremely envious of Rob [Pattinson] and Taylor [Lautner]," he said laughing. "What I've realized is that they have a very tough job – not just playing the characters that they play, but living lives that are now very much under scrutiny all the time."

• Another day, another dinner out! Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, enjoying a late night dinner with friends (including the actor's pal Sam Bradley) and their managers at Pinky's Steakhouse and Cocktail Lounge in Vancouver.
