Indie chanteuse Lana Del Rey has been giving increasingly controversial interviews leading up to the release of her second album, Ultraviolence.
For starters, she declared feminism "not an interesting concept [for me]" in an interview with The Fader.
But it was recent comments she made to The Guardian that have the singer's name trending across the Internet; she told the U.K. paper, "I wish I was dead already," a statement that earned a response from one person who knows a little too much about musicians dying young: Kurt Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean. (The Guardian notes that Del Rey's statement was made during a discussion of Amy Winehouse and Kurt Cobain.)

Kurt Cobain died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on April 5, 1994.
The Nirvana frontman's suicide was an epochal event for most of Generation X and has resurfaced in the news recently with newly released photographs of the singer's death scene.
But Cobain continues to live on through his music. As long as there are musicians, there will be new interpretations of Nirvana songs, and as long as there are young people, there will be an appreciation for Cobain's raw pathos and deft hand with melody.
To commemorate his life are these photos – including art Cobain did as a child – and the video above.
The photos are from Life's new tribute volume, Remembering Kurt Cobain: 20 Years Later, which is now available on newsstands and in bookstores everywhere.
The video is from journalist and Nirvana fan Dave Seminara, who takes viewers through the Aberdeen, Wash., home where Cobain spent most of his youth.

With the 20th anniversary of the suicide of Kurt Cobain coming up next month, Seattle police knew they'd be getting plenty of questions about the Nirvana frontman.

Michael Jackson's white glove, Freddie Mercury's jumpsuit, Eric Clapton's guitar – all priceless rock artifacts, and all financially out of reach for the vast majority of music fans.
But there's good news for collectors with more modest incomes: A Seattle man claiming to be Kurt Cobain's old roommate is selling the late musician's skis on Craigslist, all for the slightly low price of $800. (The poles are not included.)

Nirvana, Kiss and Peter Gabriel will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year.
The Rock Hall announced Tuesday that Hall and Oates, Linda Ronstadt, and Cat Stevens also will be inducted April 10 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Artists are eligible for induction 25 years after their first release. Nirvana received a nomination in its first year of eligibility and next year the band will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its debut, Bleach.
The induction comes 20 years after frontman Kurt Cobain committed suicide at age 27.

What would Kurt Cobain look like today? How about Jimi Hendrix? That was the question Sachs Media Group recently asked of photo restoration and manipulation company PhoJoe: The end result is this series of hypothetically-aged portraits of deceased musicians. Enjoy the twinge of nostalgia, then tell us – what do you speculate each of these musicians would be doing right now? Courtney Love is back – and she's letting loose in a new interview, riffing on everything from facelifts to failed love affairs and fashion.
The 49-year-old, who's currently writing her autobiography and recording a new album, is featured on the cover of FASHION magazine and admits that while the past few years have been turbulent, she's hoping Hollywood can forgive her.
"Listen, if [Orange is the New Black star] Natasha Lyonne can burn down a house and Robert [Downey Jr.] can go to prison for two years, I deserve a second chance. I know there is hope for me."
