Beyoncé and Lady Gaga Have a Blast in 'Video Phone'

Originally posted 11/17/2009 10:00AM

Trust us: Beyoncé and Lady Gaga will make you wish you owned a video phone.

The longtime pop-tune heavyweight and the latest hot thing on a microphone have joined musical forces for the frenetically-paced "Video Phone," which premiered on MTV and VH1 at midnight on Tuesday.

The gun-wielding pair take on paps, voyeurs and camera-headed guys in suits (no, really) as they make apparent nods to Betty Page and the wartime flag of Japan. Take a look-see and find out for yourself.

Prepare to Go Gaga for Lady Gaga's New Tour

Now that she's going on tour without a certain scandal-ridden musician known as Kanye West, Lady Gaga promises a bigger, badder, crazier show than her fans have ever seen before.

"I wanted to really put together a show that would be the most beautiful, expensive-looking, delicious show, but that my fans wouldn't have to pay a ton of money to come see," she tells Rolling Stone.

Lady Gaga, 23, had been scheduled to partner with West for their Fame Kills tour, but those plans quickly fell through after the outrage over West's upstaging of Taylor Swift at the VMAs. Still, she holds out the possibility that a West-Gaga performance pairing might take place in the future.

Kermit the Frog: I'm Not Dating Lady Gaga

Originally posted 09/17/2009 08:45AM

When Lady Gaga rolled up to the MTV Video Music Awards, the world was agog at the identity of her high-profile date – America's Frog Next Door, Kermit the Frog.

After all, the movie and TV star, singer and former pollywog had long been linked romantically to frequent costar Miss Piggy. Had he gone from mild-mannered Muppet to amphibian Jon Gosselin?

Not at all, Kermit insists. He fesses up about his date with Lady Gaga (who called him, not vice versa) and his relationship with a certain pig, dispenses advice to Kanye West and hints at why you haven't seen him and Fozzie Bear out on the town together, in this special Q & A with PEOPLE.com.

Taylor Swift Wins Best Female Video – Upsetting Kanye West

Originally posted 09/13/2009 09:00PM

In true VMA form, the MTV awards show did not stick to the script.

The first winner of the night, Taylor Swift for best female video, was victim to this when she was rudely and quickly interrupted by Kanye West, who cut off her acceptance speech. He stole the microphone to announce that fellow nominee Beyoncé had "one of the greatest videos of all time," in "Single Ladies."

"I was standing on stage and I was really excited because I'd just won the award and then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage," Swift recalled after the show. "And then I wasn't excited anymore after that."

For her part, Beyoncé appeared shocked by the outburst and the crowd booed the rapper. Off-camera, when West returned to his seat, audience members gave a still-stunned Swift (who was ushered off the stage before finishing her speech) a standing ovation.

In her latest music video for the single "Paparazzi," Lady Gaga plays, well, Lady Gaga: a star who shutterbugs love to follow.

So what's life like behind the cameras?

According to Kerry Rhodes, a safety for the New York Jets, who plays a policeman in the video, life pretty much imitates art. While he describes Gaga as "reserved," "focused" and "cool," he admits that the scene around her can be pretty crazy.

"The shoot was ridiculous!" he tells PEOPLE. "Everywhere you turned there was a dead body – not real! – a really big horse-looking dog, and a half-naked model, which was cool."

• The morning after her show at Seattle's Showbox, Lady GaGa ventured downstairs to check out of her digs at the Hotel Monaco. Not letting the late-night performance affect her sense of style, the pop star hit the lobby in 6-in. stilettos around 7:30 a.m., trailed by a "tank" of bodyguards. "She got her coffee, asked for a sushi recommendation, then she just went back upstairs," says an onlooker.
