LeAnn Rimes says she tried to block out the hurtful things people said about her over the past few years. But at a certain point, it gets to be too much.
"I think it's really hard to deal with Twitter and Facebook and all these social media outlets," the country singer, 30, tells the Boston Herald in her first interview since undergoing treatment for stress and anxiety.
"It's hard to take it day after day of reading and seeing things that someone you don't even know says about you. As much as you said you don't want it to penetrate, it does, because you're human."

In keeping with the Batman theme, the Grammy winner, 30, was sporting a black dress and black boots, with a black clutch. Earlier in the evening, she posted a photo to Twitter, "channeling my inner Cat Woman" before the show.

Rimes voluntarily entered an undisclosed facility the day after her 30th birthday "to learn and develop coping mechanisms," her rep confirmed last week.

LeAnn Rimes is fighting back against two women who she claims illegally tape-recorded her during a phone conversation without her consent.
Court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday – one day after Rimes voluntarily entered a facility to "cope with anxiety and stress" – claim that Kimberly and Lexi Smiley "conspired to spitefully ensure that out-of-context excerpts of that recording would be disseminated to the public."
The documents state that Rimes does not know the true names of the defendants, so is using their fictitious names.

"While there will be speculation regarding her treatment, she is simply there to learn and develop coping mechanisms. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated."
Rimes – who checked in on Wednesday, the day after her 30th birthday – tells PEOPLE she hopes to emerge from treatment with better tools to deal with the life she'll be returning to.
