LeAnn Rimes: It's Hurtful Being Criticized

LeAnn Rimes says she tried to block out the hurtful things people said about her over the past few years. But at a certain point, it gets to be too much.
"I think it's really hard to deal with Twitter and Facebook and all these social media outlets," the country singer, 30, tells the Boston Herald in her first interview since undergoing treatment for stress and anxiety.
"It's hard to take it day after day of reading and seeing things that someone you don't even know says about you. As much as you said you don't want it to penetrate, it does, because you're human."

LeAnn Rimes was all smiles Thursday as she walked her first red carpet – actually, a black carpet – since leaving treatment for anxiety and stress, attending the Los Angeles premiere of Batman Live with husband Eddie Cibrian and his boys.
In keeping with the Batman theme, the Grammy winner, 30, was sporting a black dress and black boots, with a black clutch. Earlier in the evening, she posted a photo to Twitter, "channeling my inner Cat Woman" before the show.

LeAnn Rimes said she couldn't ignore "the elephant in the room" on Friday night, and she wanted all her fans to know that she's doing well after checking herself into treatment on Aug. 29 to deal with anxiety and stress.
"I'm totally cool and so happy; I think I'm about to cry," Rimes told the crowd at the Eau Claire Regional Arts Center in Eau Claire, Wis. "Thanks for being awesome fans – patient and understanding."

LeAnn Rimes is stepping back into the spotlight.
The singer, who recently entered treatment to address emotional issues, is headed to the Midwest for a series of concerts this weekend – and she's excited about facing her fans.
"I'm on a plane headed to see all my fans in Wisconsin tonight," she wrote in a Friday morning blog post titled "Back At It" in advance of her show at the Regional Arts Center in Eau Claire. "I can't wait to play, I'm so ready. I've got a zillion fashion mags, my journal, iPod, water and a butterfinger. I'm all set :)"

After just a week in treatment for anxiety and stress, LeAnn Rimes is making strides in tackling her emotional issues.
"She's already feeling better, stronger," a friend of the country star tells PEOPLE in its new issue.
Rimes voluntarily entered an undisclosed facility the day after her 30th birthday "to learn and develop coping mechanisms," her rep confirmed last week.
"I'm happy and healthy. I just want to be happier and healthier more consistently," Rimes told PEOPLE before she checked into treatment. "I don't want to wake up and not truly be enjoying my life and these amazing things around me."

LeAnn Rimes is fighting back against two women who she claims illegally tape-recorded her during a phone conversation without her consent.
Court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday – one day after Rimes voluntarily entered a facility to "cope with anxiety and stress" – claim that Kimberly and Lexi Smiley "conspired to spitefully ensure that out-of-context excerpts of that recording would be disseminated to the public."
The documents state that Rimes does not know the true names of the defendants, so is using their fictitious names.

LeAnn Rimes is seeking help to address emotional issues.
"LeAnn has voluntarily entered a 30 day in-patient treatment facility to cope with anxiety and stress," her rep Marcel Pariseau tells PEOPLE in an exclusive statement.
"While there will be speculation regarding her treatment, she is simply there to learn and develop coping mechanisms. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated."
Rimes – who checked in on Wednesday, the day after her 30th birthday – tells PEOPLE she hopes to emerge from treatment with better tools to deal with the life she'll be returning to.

When LeAnn Rimes turns 30 on Tuesday, she won't be missing her 20s one bit.
"Die, 20s, die!" was the theme of the country star's birthday party, which she celebrated with 20 friends and family members at a private Laguna Beach, Calif., home on Aug. 18.
"I've been ready to leave my 20s behind," she tells PEOPLE. "I had so many amazing things happen in my 20s, and I also had a lot of hard lessons to learn."
"I really have been truly excited about turning 30. I'm ready to be stronger than ever. It's a new chapter," adds Rimes, who shared an exclusive video (above) of her birthday bash with PEOPLE.
Rimes's husband, Eddie Cibrian, was there to give his wife a kiss after she blew out the candles on a birthday cake, which was topped with a mini-version of Rimes in a bikini standing atop a coffin. "I'm stompin' on my 20s, stompin' 'em out," she says.

LeAnn Rimes has been undergoing some major dental drama – and taking her fans along for the painful journey.
In a long series of Tweets over several days, the singer detailed her discomfort and anxiety over a looming surgery that likely had fans feeling like they too, were about to get a root canal.
Rimes's ordeal ended Monday, when she Tweeted. "Out of surgery!!! All is well. My whole face is numb and I'm starving... bad combo. Thx for all your prayers."
