Lee Thompson Young, who starred as the lead in Disney Channel's The Famous Jett Jackson, has died in a suicide. He was 29.
Los Angeles Police Department confirms to PEOPLE that officers responded to an early morning call and found the actor dead in his apartment.
"It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning," Young’s longtime manager, Jonathan Baruch, said in a statement released to PEOPLE.
"Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed. We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends as this very difficult time."
