As any Hallmark card can tell you, the holidays are about bringing people together. For some of us, that means reuniting with grown-up children, or welcoming long-lost cousins into our homes. But for musicians, it means something else: seasonal duets, often performed with the oddest of partners.
From reality-show novelty songs to stocking-stuffer EPs, Christmas isn't Christmas until two people who have no business being in the same room have crowded in front of the mic to sing a holiday classic. Why do they do this? You should just as soon ask Black Friday shoppers why they camp out for hours in front of big-box stores. Holiday magic is a compelling thing.

Their last gig went so well, they're returning for an encore.
Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan, who jokingly took some pot shots at one another as cohosts of the Academy of Country Music Awards this past April, will return as cohosts for the 2014 show.
"Congratulations, buddy, you won entertainer of the year in your first – and last – year of cohosting the ACM Awards," Shelton told Bryan after the latter's big win at the 2013 show.

Good cop, bad cop is a strategy we've seen employed many times by celebrity duos, but no two performers have perfected it quite like Country Music Awards co-hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, who reteamed to emcee the show for the sixth straight year on Wednesday.

Wednesday is country music's biggest night as the industry's top stars step onto the red carpet and the Nashville stage for the 47th annual CMA Awards.
Up for the show's top honor as entertainer of the year are three male stars, one country icon and one female singer with a penchant for roping her own personal dramas into the lyrics of her songs.
But who will take home the big prize? Take our poll below!
Jason Aldean has had a tough year with a divorce in the works and a recent tour bus accident that killed a man, but the Georgia native's career continues red hot with his latest record, "Night Train."

A Miley Cyrus-Lady Gaga collaboration? We can always hope.
Both stars are set to take the stage at this year's American Music Awards ceremony, which will bring together the top-selling artists across all genres.
While Cyrus was already announced as a performer on the show, which will be held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 24, producers have added some other big names to the lineup.

What a difference a year makes.
In 2012, country music newcomer Hunter Hayes was thrilled to introduce Carrie Underwood as one of CMT's Artists of the Year – now he's been given the same honor himself.
The 22-year-old is one of five country music stars who've been named CMT's 2013 Artists of the Year.
"This year has been amazing, and I thought it couldn't get any better, and then they told me this," the "Wanted" singer tells PEOPLE exclusively.

For Luke Bryan, fame can have its drawbacks.
"Someone was knocking on the door last night at 3 a.m. – and that happens all the time," says Bryan's wife, Caroline. "I've seen people go through our trash."
Still, "being me right now is just amazing," Bryan says. "My life is truly everything I could have dreamed it would be."
Since Bryan's surprise Entertainer of the Year win at the Academy of Country Music Awards in April – a fan-voted category that saw him best both Blake Shelton and Taylor Swift – the Georgia native has risen to superstar status.

It's hot – really hot – these days. To help you get through the sweltering weekend ahead, we picked our favorite summer jams that should make you forget about the sweat dripping down your back.
Whether it's Rascal Flatts "Summer Nights" or Jake Owen's "Barefoot Blue Jean Night," the second we hear one of those songs, we want to grab a beer and go dancing on the beach.
Maybe you're one of the lucky fans who will be attending one of the awesome festivals happening this weekend – Country Thunder in Twin Lakes, Wis., Jamboree in the Hills in Belmont, Ohio, or Faster Horses in Brooklyn, Mich. – where you'll get to hear Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean and more play their hits.
