Madonna: Don't Blame Britney!
Originally posted 05/14/2008 01:20PM
Britney Spears’ oh-so-public woes can be blamed on her growing up in the limelight, says Madonna.
"I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that she was never allowed to have a childhood," Madonna told the BBC in an interview that aired Tuesday. “She didn't get to grow up and make mistakes privately and try things out and just be a kid and be innocent. She's been watched, judged and been under a microscope since she's been a teenager. It's hard to evolve that way."
Thankfully for Madonna, her own kids seem uninterested in mom's fame. "They come to the rehearsals. But they're sort of over it. They like to skateboard around."

Madonna and Justin Timberlake 'Tie One On' After Concert
Originally posted 05/01/2008 01:35PM
What could keep die-hard workout queen Madonna from the gym? A shot of tequila, and maybe a lemon drop.
The singer, who sounded groggy and admitted to having a hangover on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show Thursday morning, said that she and Justin Timberlake hit the town after performing a free concert in Manhattan on Wednesday.
"We had to celebrate," Madonna, 49, said. "[We] decided we both work too hard and have to have fun."
Adding that she defied her usual mantra of "work hard, and work so hard here's no time to play," the singer told Seacrest: "I had a shot of tequila ... I may have had a lemon drop, too … We 'tied one on' as they say.

He rerouted the electricity in my house. He looked after the children. And he started making home movies of my children. And they were amazing."

Madonna Releases Her New Album Early
Originally posted 04/25/2008 08:00AM
Madonna debuted her new album Hard Candy Friday on MySpace – four days before the album's official release date.
The hip-hop laced album has 12 tracks, including collaborations with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams. The album-closer, for example, "Voices," features production by Timberlake, Timbaland and Nate "Danjahandz" Hills. The song builds to a dark, cinematic crescendo, as the album ends with one lone tone.
Kanye West also offers a fast-paced rap on "Beat Goes On," the eighth track, breathlessly rapping, "I think I'm going to try something new."
Madonna's decision to release her eleventh studio album for Warner Bros. Records on MySpace before it lands in stores, follows similar moves by Nine Inch Nails, Black Eyed Peas, Outkast and 50 Cent, who also premiered their albums on MySpace.

PEOPLE.com Previews Madonna's Hard Candy
Originally posted 04/05/2008 11:55PM
"Workin' up a sweat/ that's what music's for," Madonna sings on "Heartbeat," the pumped-up fourth song on Hard Candy, her latest album, due April 29. The pop diva makes good on her promise – singing her way through an hour of Euro-flavored dance tracks infused with retro, house beats. PEOPLE.com got an early listen – and here are five fast facts about Madonna's latest:
On "Spanish Lesson," produced by the Neptunes, Madonna does, in fact, go bilingual, offering loose translations of phrases like,
"Entiendo," which she says means, "I get it," over a funked-up flemenco guitar riff. (Literal translation: "I understand.")
Kanye West offers a fast-paced rap on "Beat Goes On," the eighth track, breathlessly rapping, "I think I'm going to try something new."

Madonna's Adoption of David Nearly Final
Originally posted 04/04/2008 10:15AM
Madonna is thisclose to having her adoption of David Banda approved.
The Malawian government is now urging its High Court to give the go-ahead, Reuters reports. A confidential document, dated March 25, and signed by Probation Officer S. Chisale at the Ministry of Women and Child Development, says that Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie are providing a good home for Banda.
"In the best interest of the child, I do recommend the petitioners to your lordship for your consideration that they be granted an adoption order having proved that they are suitable parents and satisfied the conditions in the interim adoption order," says Chisale.
Madonna's New Video Debuts
Originally posted 04/03/2008 03:10PM
If dancing can save the world, then Madonna and Justin Timberlake may as well be superheroes: The two join forces in the feisty, special effects-laden video for the Madonna's latest single, "4 Minutes." As a giant clock offers an ominous four-minute countdown, the two cavort on cars, down a grocery checkout counter and even in a bedroom as a giant prism-like effect encroaches. The singers trade verses, dance-moves and even faux kisses in the clip. Things get hotter as time continues to fly – and the they even share a small striptease and a liplock. Just call it sexy sci-fi! Look for a cameo from Timbaland, who also appears on the song. Bottom line: We're not exactly sure what the two are battling – but never has the apocalypse seemed hipper.
The full video is now available for purchase on iTunes. Madonna's latest album, Hard Candy, will be released on April 29.

Madonna Reveals 'Sex with Guy Is Incredible'
Originally posted 04/02/2008 10:10AM
She may be almost 50, but Madonna has no problem baring all – when it comes to interviews, at least.
For May's U.K. issue of Elle, the still-sexy singer – whose eleventh studio album, Hard Candy, is out this month – chats candidly about her kids, her sex life and her tempestuous marriage to Guy Ritchie.
Madonna and the 39-year-old filmmaker have been dogged by rumors of marital strife, culminating last month, when the singer's rep was forced to release a statement saying, "Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ritchie remain happily married."

Madonna Will Sing 'Like A Virgin' – For $30 Million
Originally posted 03/27/2008 04:20PM
She may be heading out on tour in the fall – but don't expect
to hear Madonna sing some of her biggest hits ever again.
"I'm not sure I can sing 'Holiday' or 'Like A Virgin' ever again," the
singer tells New York's Z100-FM in an interview scheduled to air Friday. "I just can't – unless somebody paid me like $30 million or something. [Like if] some Russian guy wants me to come to the wedding he's going to
have to a 17-year-old, you know it." (Listen to the full interview here.)
