You Voted! Best & Worst of the SAG Awards

Originally posted 01/24/2010 09:35AM

While live blogging the Screen Actors Guild Awards on PEOPLE.com, our readers got very vocal about who scored big – and who tanked. Relive the night's highlights – and lowlights – as voted on by you!

Whose risk-taking tuxedo do you like the most?
Justin Timberlake's blue-shirted Dolce & Gabbana ensemble easily won this category, taking 50% of the vote over Glee star Mark Salling's retro suit (29%) and Kevin Bacon's all-black ensemble (21%).

What's your favorite of Betty White's roles?
The recipient of the lifetime achievement SAG Award has held many memorable roles, but for 67% of PEOPLE.com readers, her crowning achievement was her turn as ditsy Rose Nylund on Golden Girls. Her portrayal of saucy Sue Ann on Mary Tyler Moore was a distant second, with 22% of the vote.

Who has the most daring cleavage?
Although women didn't bare their, ahem, assets as proudly as they did at the Golden Globes, a few did take the plunge – and you thought Glee star Lea Michele was the most brave, with 83% of you calling her green Malandrino gown the most daring. Anna Paquin in Alexander McQueen came in second, with 17% of the vote.

Who looked best in red?
Crimson was definitely the color of the night! And according to 43% of PEOPLE.com readers, Mad Men star Christina Hendricks was the hottest woman in red, with Carey Mulligan and Mariah Carey tied for second place, with 29% of the vote each.

Which actor is most in need of a good shave?
A beard might be the hottest accessory for Hollywood's leading men these days, but that doesn't mean PEOPLE.com readers like it! George Clooney and Timberlake tied for first place, each claiming 35% of the vote as the star who most needs a trip to the barber shop. In second place? Mad Men star Jon Hamm, with 24% of the vote.

Mariah Carey blamed her recent tipsy acceptance speech at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on splashes of champagne, but that hasn't turned the singer off of bubbly.

"ANGEL CHAMPAGNE (ROSE) by MC coming soon!" she Tweeted on Friday.

That night, during her concert at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods in Connecticut – her first show since the film festival – the singer poked fun at herself with several champagne-related jokes.

Though she has been known to make comments about drinking at her shows in the past, her cracks took on new meaning in light of her speech.

How Telethons Help: Haiti Will Be George Clooney's Third

Originally posted 01/17/2010 01:45PM

In response to the devastating earthquake in Haiti that has killed up to tens of thousands of people, George Clooney and MTV Networks are organizing a megawatt line up of musicians, film and television stars for a national telethon looking to be successful in raising funds as previous disaster telethons have in the past.

"He's been on the phone for three days straight with almost no sleep," Clooney's rep told PEOPLE when he skipped the Critics' Choice Awards Friday in order to prepare for the Haiti telethon. "George knows how to do this well. It's his third one." The Up in the Air actor and humanitarian was involved in organizing both the Sept. 11 and the South Asia tsunami telethons.

With specific details still being worked out, the two-hour telethon, airing Jan. 22, will be similar to past disaster events featuring musical performances and an all-star ensemble of Hollywood celebrities offering viewers the opportunity to pledge money.

Just how helpful are the celebrity telethons? Here's a look:

Mariah Carey's spacey acceptance speech at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Tuesday night has been buzzing around the Internet. And yes, Carey was indeed buzzed – on bubbly – when she gave it, she says.

The singer-turned-actress, who earned the breakthrough actress award for her social worker role in Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire, says she was having "splashes of champagne" with Lee Daniels, close friend and Precious director, prior to taking the stage.

"We'd been sitting there, celebrating this whole time and having little splashes, and I hadn't eaten," the diva says, adding they didn't want to be late and rushed in to the event.

Mariah Carey Spaces Out During Acceptance Speech

Originally posted 01/06/2010 02:15PM

While Mariah Carey never quite managed to finish her sentence that began, "Please forgive me because I am a little bit … ," others who witnessed her rambling, seven-minute acceptance speech Tuesday night at California's Palm Springs International Film Festival offered plenty of suggestions.

Jet-lagged? Inebriated?

Maybe just nervous. Festival organizers claimed that the Grammy winning diva, whose glammed-down performance as a social worker in Precious won her Palm Springs's breakthrough performance award, was slightly spaced-out because she was not used to speaking in front of such eminent peers as Sean Penn, Morgan Freeman, Jeff Bridges, Clint Eastwood and Dame Helen Mirren.

Yet Carey – who attended the gala event without husband Nick Cannon – was happy to be part of the film community. "I have always wanted to be doing independent films, but people were always like, 'You will take us out of the movie [by overshadowing her character],' " Carey, 40, told PEOPLE.
