Oscar-winner Marisa Tomei recently traveled to Italy to investigate a murder mystery – and no, that's not the plot of her latest on-screen project.
Tomei, 47, made the journey to look into the death of her great-grandfather, as part of NBC's Who Do You Think You Are?, which gives celebrities a chance to delve into their heritage. The Ides of March star examined records at an Italian church in order to piece together her family history.
Growing up, family legend was that the actress's great-grandfather was a womanizer and a gambler whose philandering ways led to him being fatally shot in a bar, according to the NBC show. But documents that Tomei uncovered in Italy cited his cause of death as "illness."

He has a big film premiere coming up – but first George Clooney was all about relaxation.
The recently single actor hosted a group of friends – including pals Cindy Crawford, her husband Rande Gerber, as well as his The Ides of March costars Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood – at his Lake Como, Italy, villa over the weekend.
On Sunday, the group enjoyed a boat trip – and shared cocktails as they took in the scenery. Gerber and Crawford managed to do a little paddleboarding, as well.

Marisa Tomei has done her fair share of nude scenes, but even she was somewhat wary of dancing around in a G-string – and nothing else – in her role as a stripper opposite Micky Rourke, in The Wrestler.
"The script called for certain points where the [Rourke's character] has to put money in my G-string, so I definitely had to be wearing a G-string – I couldn't be wearing boy shorts," the My Cousin Vinny Oscar winner, 44, confesses to Premiere.
"And I didn't really want to be topless in every single dance number ... but there were certain things called for in the plot, and then I wanted to feel comfortable as her and I wanted it to be flattering."
