Marissa Jaret Winokur is signing off.
"I will not be returning to The Talk this year," the actress tells PEOPLE.
Winokur joined the CBS daytime chat fest in September to do "Mom in the Street" segments twice a week. "But as the show evolved," she says, "there really wasn't room for my segments."
Though Winokur says, "I love my co-hosts and the crew at The Talk," she wants "to be more involved with what I'm working on," which includes developing her own cable show and plans to launch a clothing line later this year.

Marissa Jaret Winokur: I Had to Call in Fat
Originally posted 08/25/2009 01:35PM
We call in sick in life, so why can't we call in fat? That's the question Marissa Jaret Winokur asks in the new installment of her weekly PEOPLE.com weight-loss blog.
Here, the Dance Your Ass Off host, 36, dishes about why family time with her husband Judah and 1-year-old son Zev took priority over "me time" – and why there's nothing a great new pair of shoes can't fix.
Sorry I skipped out on my PEOPLE.com blog last week. I called in fat – I figured I had about 10 days saved up, so decided to use seven of them and take the whole week off! I saved three days for a long fat weekend in the fall with the family.
Seriously, don't you wish it worked that way? You could wake up one morning and start getting ready for work and then look in the mirror and say, "Forget it, I'm calling in fat." Or you're about to be heading out for a date and your jeans are too tight and instead of freaking out and putting on a pair of sweats, you could call the guy up and say, "Sorry, can't make the movies. I'm just too fat."

Marissa Jaret Winokur: I'm Inspired by Sherri Shepherd
Originally posted 08/12/2009 10:45AM
What could be better than a summer barbecue? That is, of course, unless you're on a diet. Marissa Jaret Winokur recently hosted an outdoor meal with pals that she refers to as "Temptation City."
Here, in her weekly PEOPLE.com weight-loss blog, the Dance Your Ass Off host, 36, dishes about staying relatively strong in spite of the food fest and how seeing Sherri Shepherd's bathing-suit body in PEOPLE gave her hope.
Okay, I had an awesome week. I actually went to the gym and worked out about an hour a day except for Saturday when – dum dum dum dum – I hosted a BBQ! I made it as healthy as possible! I even put out light beer and I don't even drink beer. My husband's friends were not happy! BUT it was Temptation City. I did okay. I wouldn't have won the grand prize but I would have come in fourth place, and fourth is pretty good (that's where I ended up on Dancing with the Stars)!

Marissa Jaret Winokur: I'll Tweet Before I Eat
Originally posted 08/05/2009 09:00AM
Marissa Jaret Winokur has faced this temptation before: the spectre of being left alone in a hotel room with a stocked minibar. But recently, the Dance Your Ass Off host, 36, opted to stay strong and vanquish that diet demon by locking it up.
Here, in her weekly PEOPLE.com weight-loss blog, she shares her hilarious strategy for not letting that minibar get the best of her and how Twitter is becoming a friend in her fight to lose weight.
I went back to New York City this week for three nights (sadly, away from Zev and Judah). You may remember a few weeks ago when I went to N.Y.C. and had a close encounter with a minibar. Well, I had to face that minibar once again. It was like an ex-boyfriend, one you still loved but had to break up because you were not good for each other. One you convinced yourself, "Oh, I can still be friends with him and nothing has to happen." SOMETHING ALWAYS HAPPENS!
