The Comeback Kid remains confident.

After partially tearing her ACL in a training accident on Nov. 19, downhill racing champ Lindsey Vonn told Today that she is guardedly optimistic she'll be ready to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics, which begins in just 72 days.

"I'm confident it's going to be okay," the 2010 gold medalist, 29, told Matt Lauer about her knee. "At this point, that's all I can do, is stay positive. I'm kind of out of options at this point. I hope I can continue racing."

A private moment played out quite publicly for Matt Lauer and Al Roker on Wednesday, as they got prostate exams live on NBC's Today show to help spread the word about the importance of regular checkups.

"It doesn't hurt at all," said Lauer, 55, of the rectal procedure, which took place behind a closed door at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York as cameras waited outside.

"Is it the best 34 seconds of your life? Probably not. But if in 34 seconds a [doctor] can detect something that might save your life, what are we talking about?"

Suzanne Somers has a perfectly active sex life after 40, thank you very much!

Following Miley Cyrus's controversial comments on Monday about middle-aged people no longer getting intimate, Somers, 66, announced on Tuesday's episode of The Talk that she has sex "a couple times a day" with her husband of 36 years, Alan Hamel.

"He's on hormones and I'm on hormones," Somers said bashfully, to the sound of laughter and applause. "I'm going to be so sorry I said that. What is it about men at four in the morning? And then I'm really awake around eight or so. We have busy mornings."

Miley Cyrus: 'I'm the Happiest I've Ever Been in My Whole Life'

Despite all the controversy surrounding her love of twerking, risqué VMA performance and feud with Sinéad O'Connor, Miley Cyrus says she's never been happier.

During an appearance on the Today show Monday, Cyrus, 20, told Matt Lauer, "I'm the happiest I've ever been in my whole life."

"The most important thing is being a really good person," the "Wrecking Ball" singer told Lauer when he asked about her the music video's nudity and VMA performance, which he deemed a "strategic hot mess." "And that doesn't depend on what you do on stage, that depends on how you treat people when you're off stage, and I know how I treat people."

She continued, "I don't ever really plan to offend people, but sometimes that just happens because ... they're not open to what they don't understand. But my fans understand. [The VMAs] went exactly as planned. I mean, it's a month later, and we're still talking about it ... so it worked."

British Tourist Hit By N.Y.C. Cab Thanks Strangers Who 'Saved My Life'

Sian Green, a British tourist who five weeks ago was the victim of a New York City taxi cab accident in which one of her legs was severed, expressed her gratitude to those strangers who stepped forward, stayed with her and helped when the horrific incident occurred.

"There's good people in the world," the 23-year-old, just out of the hospital and smiling, said on Tuesday's Today show. "I can't thank them enough. They saved my life."

Green, a student of fashion-buying and trainee at Hugo Boss, had been in the city for only a day with pal Keshia Warren when a taxi swerved to avoid hitting a cyclist. The vehicle then jumped the curb and plowed into Green as she was eating a hot dog in Manhattan's Rockefeller Center.

"We came here thinking we're just going on holiday," she told the Today show's Matt Lauer, as Warren sat at her side, "and it's been like a whirlwind and it's turned upside down."

Paula Deen: 'I've Committed a Sin'

Originally posted 06/26/2013 08:45AM

Saying she "committed a sin" with her racial remark and did something she deeply regrets, Paula Deen broke down in tears on national television Wednesday, making her delayed appearance on Today after she pulled out at the last minute from a scheduled interview on the NBC show last Friday.

In the course of her 13-minute interview, Deen, repeatedly stating she believes "everyone created on God's earth is created equal … that's the way I was raised and that's the way I live my life," said, "I've had wonderful support from Rev. [Jesse] Jackson, and I tell ya what: If there's anyone out there that has never said something that they wish they could take back, if you are out there, please pick up that stone and throw it so hard at me that it kills me. Please, I want to meet you … I is what I is, and I'm not changing."
