Report: Matthew McConaughey to Play Magnum

Is Matthew McConaughey ready to put on a (Hawaiian) shirt?
According to a report in Entertainment Weekly, the dad-to-be has been offered the title role in a new big-screen version of the '80s hit Magnum P.I..
McConaughey, 38, is reportedly reading the script (written by Dodgeball's Rawson Thurber), but has not yet announced whether he'll accept the role of Thomas Sullivan Magnum IV.
Of course, the Ferrari-driving private investigator was originally played by Tom Selleck.
Hmmmmm ... How would McConaughey look with a mustache?

Matt McConaughey Dishes on 'Ghosts of Girlfriends Past'

Matthew McConaughey took to his MySpace Celebrity blog Wednesday to vent about the "ghosts of girlfriends past." But don't worry, Penélope Cruz and Ashley Judd – these exes were all strictly fictional.
The 38-year-old actor – who's expecting his first child with girlfriend Camila Alves – said he's also tackling the issues of "love, women and family" for his new role in the adult comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.
"It's cool being in a very edgy comedy where the dialogue and situations skirt that R-rated innuendo," he wrote. "My character ... is cynical about the promises of [marriage] ... Until all those damn ghosts of my girlfriends come visit me and scare the you know what outta me. Hopefully I'll make it out alive."

Emily Blunt has a message for Matthew McConaughey: Wear a shirt!
The Devil Wears Prada actress gave a special shout-out to PEOPLE's former Sexiest Man Alive while presenting a visual effects trophy at the recent BAFTA awards: "This really is thrilling," she said after listing the technical advances in the world of CGI (or computer-generated imagery). "I gather they are only months away from digitally putting a T-shirt on Matthew McConaughey."
As the ladies in the 2000-strong audience cheered her on, she joked, "It's a real breakthrough!"

He earned the Sexiest Man Alive title, but can Matthew McConaughey get a Father of the Year award?
"I think he will be an incredible dad," McConaughey's Fool's Gold costar Kate Hudson, 28, said recently. "I think because people see Matthew always out doing something whether [it's] out dancing in a bar or being on the beach or taking a hike with some crazy bandana on, I think that, like anything, they take their image and what they want somebody else to be and then they just run with that."
The often shirtless McConaughey made note that the apple won't fall far from the tree: "Make no doubt about it. My kid will dance. He will be on the beach and he will be taking hikes with a wild bandana on."

Matthew McConaughey will be "an awesome dad," his Sahara costar Steve Zahn tells PEOPLE. But there's just one problem.
"[Babies] like to bite and grab your shirt, so he'll have to wear a shirt," Zahn jokes. "But now he'll have an excuse to take it off, because they'll throw up on it."

Matthew McConaughey and girlfriend Camila Alves are expecting a child, the actor announced Tuesday on his Web site.
"My girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together," McConaughey writes. "It's 3 months growin in her womb and all looks healthy and lively so far. We are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God, and so excited for the adventure that will come in raising this child, being mother and a father, and shepherding him or her through this life."
