The Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers may be basking in the limelight of the biggest football weekend of the year – but they're not the only ones playing ball. And they certainly don't have Hayden Panettiere on their teams.

Celebs like Panettiere, Matthew Morrison (as an assistant coach) and Jerry Ferrara took to the field in Dallas on Saturday for a star-studded game of flag football, hosted by DIRECTV.

The Celebrity Beach Bowl pinned stars like Glee's Chord Overstreet, Gossip Girl's Jessica Szohr and Chace Crawford – who were on Team Spike – agains, True Blood's Joe Manganiello and Josh Duhamel, who made Team Palladia.

Matthew Morrison managed to get Elton John into the recording studio with him, so the next sensible step would be to get the Rocket Man on Glee, right?

"We should find a spot for him to be on the show," Morrison, 32, tells PEOPLE. "That would be awesome. He's a living legend. He just brings such a great energy and a great validity to everything he does."

What sort of role does the actor, who plays Mr. Schuester, see for John?

Originally posted 11/10/2010 10:30AM

Glee tackled the issue of bullying on the "Never Been Kissed" episode Tuesday night – and threw in some unexpected love.

In the episode, Kurt finds himself being targeted by a beefy jock Karofsky, who regularly slams Kurt into lockers. Although in the past Kurt has been able to let taunts roll off his back, he's at a breaking point.

In the meantime, Mr. Schuester splits the glee club up into boys versus girls, but assigns the boys to sing songs traditionally sung by women, and the girls to perform songs usually done by men. Mr. Schuester also reveals that one of the glee club's competitors in the upcoming sectionals is from the all-boys school Dalton.

Who says hearing your phone go off repeatedly at 5 a.m. is a bad thing? For the cast of Glee, it was music to their ears.

"I was aroused from a deep sleep!" Jane Lynch, who was nominated for best supporting actress in a comedy and also for her guest spot on Two and a Half Men tells PEOPLE about hearing the good news. "It's always a surprise and it's always exciting."

Costar Matthew Morrison, who was nominated for best lead actor in a comedy, prepped himself for Thursday's big announcement by going for a 7-mile run "to clear my thoughts," he says. "You try to not put too much importance on something like this and I want to say it doesn't matter to me, but I can't seem to wipe this smile off my face right now!"

But Morrison and Lynch weren't basking in Emmy bliss by themselves – the hit FOX show received 19 nominations, prompting the cast to share their excitement with a "text message chain [that] is going crazy!" says Morrison.
