He had a meeting to get to and a new movie, And So It Goes, with his pal Diane Keaton (out July 18), to promote, but on a recent afternoon in L.A., an upbeat Michael Douglas had something else on his mind: throwing a 60th-anniversary party that night for his dad, Hollywood icon Kirk Douglas, 97, and stepmom, Anne, 95.
The two-time Oscar winner, 69, was clearly focused on family, from his 13-year-old son Dylan's bar mitzvah to strengthening his marriage to Catherine Zeta-Jones, 44. (The couple, who decided to spend time apart a year ago, have stepped out hand in hand several times in recent months.)

Barbara Walters said goodbye to The View, the woman-powered talk show she created for ABC in 1997, Friday morning.
"I may be available for supermarket openings and charity auctions," she joked at the hour's close before going on to mention her interviews of the powerful and famous on her specials and then on to her many years as the unmistakeable head of the table on The View, on which she'll remain executive producer.
This had been billed, somewhat delicately, as Walters's farewell to daytime television, but her summing up sounded very much like a pronounced "I'm outta here!"
